$500 bank error in your favor. What do you buy?

We recently had a $500 scratcher. The money went to hay and a hay basket from Tractor Supply. My husband and the horses both love the hay basket.

I’d buy a big load of groceries for the food bank to stave off guilt, and then buy two pairs of TS Vintage Patch breeches - "Black Forrest " and ā€œSailor,ā€ I think.

I’m in Canada. $500 Canadian in my town will almost get you a ton of Timothy or Alfalfa. You will get change back from buying a pair of tall Ariats, or a Charles Owen helmet, or Pikeur breeches, but not that much change.

You could buy one DeNiro boot

In reality, some stupidly adult responsible thing like tires, hay, or gates for the arena.

In a perfect world where all those things are done already, probably new boots. Or a new show jacket and breeches. I haven’t been to a show in 7 years, most shows were cancelled and my pony is barely cantering under saddle, but you’ve got to be prepared, right?

Because of the time of year (heading in to winter) I’d outfit myself for winter riding. Warmest tights, vest, technical base layers, wool socks etc. I mean, I can already cobble it together with what I have but there’s something about new, coordinated clothes that (temporarily) motivates me to get out in to the cold.

id kit myself and my horse with a few things for the winter and the rest id use to have an amazing trainer come out to us that is really popular here in Finland

Jin Stirrups, a new thinline pad, and some horse cookies

Right now I really want to buy more SureFoot pads. I have two pairs now, and my horses are responding nicely to them, so I want to expand the range. Or materials to build a shed to store my jumps and bags of shavings.

Other fun stuff I’d like to buy:

Custom Mattes pads in fun colors.
OneK MIPS helmet with the color inserts.
Fleck carbon fiber whip
Horse books, even though I haven’t read everything I have

Or perhaps this outrageous frivolity:

A Craigslist pony, of course.

There is something wrong with all of you people.

Apparently some people never played Monopoly. There is a Chance or Community Chest card ā€œBank error in your favor. Collect $500.ā€ Sadly, my horse needs nothing. I could use winter breeches if I found any that 1. fit me and 2. I liked.
