$500 just to look? WTF?

Oh, I doubt she feels guilty…I think afraid of legal action is what made her remove certain information;)

she still has illegal info…

on her site, you just have to really really look

Or, you can search for the cached page on Google. This thread has been soooo enjoyable. I’ve been reading it late at night when my mind is already fuzzy. I thought maybe it was a nightmare I was having…

Anyone looking for there next “White Trash Dressage” horse. I know know where you can spend a lot of money and get the horse that will let you take home the first place ribbon every time in the WTD class. And he!! I will even let you pay me to send you the link.

Just in case it also go the way of the Dodo bird the policies are here.

We sell hundreds of horses per year, these policies were developed over time to ensure the smooth delivery of services, to promote proper communication, and to result in a horse purchase transaction that meets or exceeds your expectations…
In some cases, policies are developed to deal with situations that are the exception rather than the norm, but when you sell as many horses as we do, all bases must be covered… So please don’t be insulted by the candid policy statements that follow :))
VSH accepts cash, certified check, money orders and PayPal.

Upon Full Payment: You will receive a bill of sale and a receipt. If you would like to have a coggins certificate, it is provided free of charge, but all information tracing the horse to the ranch will be removed. Horse transportation will be arranged only following receipt of full payment of all charges.
The following services are offered at an additional charge: gelding, trimming, temporary boarding, training, home delivery, delivery coordination, health inspection and certificate.
Deposit Policy: A $500 minimum, 10% deposit will hold a horse currently residing in Virginia for 10 days. Deposits are non-refundable, but can be applied towards the purchase of any of the horses on the farm or towards the selection, purchase and importation of any horse from one of the ranches we work with. Deposits must be re-applied within 6 months.
Vet Check: Vet checks must be completed during the 10 day deposit period. Virginia Sport Horses works with most major veterinary clinics in the area. A list of qualified local veterinarians will be provided upon request. If you are not available or require our assistance, you will be charged $30/hr for each person who provides assistance. Our purchase agreement stipulates that you release any xrays or results from vet exams to Virginia Sport Horses.
What We Expect: If we make an agreement, we will honor that agreement, we expect the same from our customers.
Before Purchasing a Horse/Foal from a picture please realize:
Horses that are sold from pictures over the internet are sold as UNCONDITIONAL PURCHASES and are priced accordingly. When a horse is purchased from a picture the buyer is accepting a level of risk traditionally borne by the seller in exhange for discounted pricing…When purchasing a horse which is still in Canada, we can provide you with the same information that has been provided to us, however, we are not in a position to “represent or misrepresent” a horse. YOU ARE ACCEPTING THE SAME LEVEL OF RISK AS WE DO WHEN WE PURCHASE THESE HORSES. When a person prepurchases a horse, they own that horse from the moment of purchase forward. If you can not handle the risk…then you are invited to make an appointment and purchase a horse from the farm or inspect and purchase the horse after we have purchased it.
IF WE PURCHASE THE HORSE: It is absolutely unfair to expect to be able to purchase that horse for the same price that you could have purchased it for had you been the person to finance the transaction and assume the risk…Because we offer our customers both options, on each and every shipment, we import horses that may spend as long as 3 yrs growing up on our farm. During the time that a horse is here, we incur many costs. A horse may colic, break a leg, and never make it to maturity…these costs and risks must be factored into our pricing.
When you take possession of a horse, we will present you with a bill of sale and a coggins. The coggins identifies the horse, the bill of sale transfers ownership. When you sign the bill of sale, you are accepting the horse, and signing off on the ownership of the horse. From that point forward, you own the horse and the transaction is final.
If you ask that we transport your horse and drop it off when you are not present, you are waiving your right to inspect the horse and the transaction is final. If you are not comfortable with this than do not arrange such a delivery.
THE BEST HORSES SELL QUICKLY: Our horses are priced to sell. Approximately 40% of our horses sell before they reach Virginia. Our most popular horses sell quickly. So if you are seriously interested in a horse you have the option of placing a deposit. (Please read and understand the deposit policy). We average 1-2 horses sold per day. We have many horses here and we want our customers to chose the right horse for them. WE DON’T DO A HARD SELL…so we are uncomfortable telling customers that we have others interested in the horse…Please don’t be disappointed when a horse that you were interested in was sold if you have not placed a deposit…
Foal Payment Policy: Foals imported from Canada must be paid in full prior to shipment. Payment can be made via certified check, paypal or wire transfer.
Foals BORN IN VIRGINIA are sold with 1/2 of the sales price down, and the final payment due by weaning. If you change your mind, than we expect you to honor your agreement and pay for the foal…Its that simple. We would never dream of selling your foal to someone else who offered us more, it wouldn’t be ethical…
If you purchase a horse and leave it here to be boarded, board will accrue. If you fail to contact us, and return 6 months later, you will have to pay accumulated board and your horse may have been sold.
Late Arrival/No Show Charge: Our riders are paid by the hour, if you make an appointment to see a horse ridden, we are paying someone to ride that horse for you and we are postponing another horse’s training to do so. If you arrive late without giving sufficient notice or do not show up for your appointment you will be charged $100.00. We hate having to do this…we try to be very reasonable, but we have had a few visitors who have made this policy necessary…
Trailer Loading Charge: All of our horses will load easily and willingly in an OPEN STOCK TRAILER. We are happy to arrange reasonably priced transport for you in a suitable trailer. Our horses are not priced to allow us to spend time training…or ruining training - by forcing your horse to load in a small trailer or uninviting trailer… Please be aware that a “penny-wise/pound foolish” decision which involves saving $100 on your part can traumatize your new horse, cause frustration and anger, and is just plain dangerous… No one is happy when they have to go home without their new horse and then pay to ship him anyway… For that reason…we charge a $100 trailer loading surcharge for those who intend to pickup their horses themselves. We will happily assist you for up to one person/hr (i.e., 1 person 1 hr = 2 people 1/2 hr ea). If your horse loads in less than 1/2 hour with one person’s assistance, this surcharge will be refunded… After 1 hour, we will be happy to arrange alternate shipping arrangements.
Prima Donna Trainers, Unreasonable Boarding Stable Staff, Last Minute Purchases:
We have shipments from Canada to Va every 4-6 weeks. We cannot be responsible or impacted by your last minute decision to place your horse at a facility managed by any of the above…
Most of our horses are young and are imported and transported from a considerable distance. Under the most careful supervision, it is impossible to avoid occasional respiratory illnesses, low fevers, or anxiety. Believe it or not there are many local trainers and large boarding stable managers who are sadly lacking in “horsemanship” skills and do not understand the basic concepts of quarantine of new horses or of how to handle a young horse, let alone health care issues. If this concerns you, we are happy to provide a health inspection and certificate at your expense. Please verify with the person at your boarding facility if this is required, or unnecessary, in advance of transportation of the horse to the facility.
We can also provide you, or your facility, with links and information about what to expect, the care of a horse that has been transported 3,000 miles, or the introduction of a new foal into your barn. There are many useful resources available.
Mature horses imported from Canada may be vet checked prior to arrival. Young horses can be halter broke and or gelded prior to arrival. All of these things can be handled and handled well if the horse is selected and paid for in sufficient time to execute these services and transport the horse to VA. If you change your mind at the last minute or add a horse to our shipment with less than 10 days of lead time prior to departure, then we can not guarantee that the horse will have been thoroughly halter broke, or that his feet have been trimmed etc.
We offer boarding, training, health certificates, gelding and trimming services prior to delivery.
If you have made a decision that results in a minimally halter broke or untrimmed horse arriving at a barn…and have waived the above services, please have the good sense and courtesy to inform the barn manager of your decision. Let them know you have accepted the horse, and prepare them for the horse that will arrive.
Please be cognizant that your decision to waive these services also places our reputation on the line. As you can see from our Customer Comments page, we have many repeat customers. Repeat customers who have purchased 3 and 4 horses from our farm. We do not wish to impose policies that result in higher costs to all of our customers for situations that occur in a small % of cases…
Sales Pricing:
From time-to-time, we will institute special “sale” pricing for certain horses. We reserve the right to do so, and this in no way has an impact on the price that you may have paid for a horse that is being imported especially for you…
Occasionally, we have made a mistake in posting the price of a horse to the site. In the past we have stood by the prices posted. With the profit margin on horses becoming thin to nonexistent, we reserve the right to sell the horse at the correct price. Although we make ever effort to post accurate and up-to-date information, PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
NO SALE: These are our horses and we care about where they go. We reserve the right NOT to sell a horse.

LOL…I think many of the horse sales pages might have disappeared due to being termed Canadian Sport Horses. The rest left up are just listed as whatever crosses they happen to be.

WOW!!! so you must be about 110 yrs old… Welcome to the new millennium!!! Excuse me ~ I need to go find a dead cactus (obscure reference)

LOL! I got it!

I think I just figured it out: It’s not Bumpass, Virginia. It’s Bumpass, Nigeria.

thank you you guys, this is easily the best thread ever on coh, except of course for my haiku war thread. no, i take that back, the haiku war was lame. this si the best one. 2nd place, the magikal gypsy horses.

This whole thing just makes me feel very sad. I haven’t read this whole thread or looked thru the whole website, but the people that do this are certainly lousy excuses for human beings…maybe the wrong species is getting liquidated? Compounding the shame of the whole PMU industry, now we have this “used car” means of making a buck, resulting in a longer more torturous journey to the slaughter house for some of these horses.

The PMU aspect of this hits close to home, as last fall I choose to buy a PMU foal from one picture, and had her brought down from Canada. She is now a yearling and a more sweet, gentle and personable filly you couldn’t find. She has just captured our hearts! I am sure many of these horses/foals in the right hand would be no different. Okay off my soapbox, but this is just so depressing.

A couple of pictures of our PMU filly can be seen here if anyone is interested:(the chestnut yearling)

     What will they come up with next…too funny. yeah, that’ll bring in interested parties by the boatload. is this like an elite horse and that’s why it costs to even look at it?

I kills me because as I said many pages ago some of them look like cute grade horses. My beloved Dobby is a PMU. He’s Perch/QH and is amazing. Does he look or travel like an A show hunter, NOPE! But he jumps 3’6, hunts and packs an ammy around on trails or hunt field. His owner adores him and with good reason.

Jumphigh83 spent months last year looking for one just like him and they are out there. Sadly since most good decent horsepeople would not consider doing business with a place like this, those horses may be doomed.

Linny, People might do business with them if they were not so ridiculous in what they expect in a customer and they are way out of hand with their pricing. I would not pay $4500 for a halter broke grade horse when there are tons of broke ones out in the market for way less money. Maybe now that the clauses have been removed, people may actually start shopping with them and these horses have a chance.

I can only imagine what she her federal tax returns for this ‘business’ must look like? Her business is probably IRS audit ready? You, think?

“Upon entering this site, visitors and users agree to the terms and conditions outlined on Virginia Sport Horses’ POLICIES & INFORMATION page.”

Well, since there are no polices listed on that page does it mean we don’t have to agree to them?

What a friggin train wreck. I feel bad for the horses stuck in that horsie mill.

And now the Stallion, Premium Gelding, Gelding and Mare pages are empty.

As Arte Johnson would say peering through the palm branches, with his German accent: "Verrry Interesssting."

I can’t even get the site to come up at all anymore! Some kind of error message that unable to connect to database server. Is it just me and my icky dial up?

Choco - I am in LOVE with a couple of the draft crosses from the farm you recommend. Maybe when I sell my project mare … hmmmm…

awww. And I was enjoying this thread. I too couldn’t help but have the WTF? reaction. And now I can’t even share it with friends. Maybe they will make another website.

Well LL: If you want an in-person taste of the real thing, you are always welcome to come up for a weekend and ride Penny. She’s not a “made” horse and Mary never claimed her to be. However, her training was exceptional and her movement is why I chose her.

In the video Mary sent, I watched as Penny did the basic w/t/c, etc. Then she halted in the middle of the ring. Mary dismounted on the off side, remounted on the off side, turned around and slid off the mare’s butt, skootched under her belly and remounted. Penny never moved or batted an eyelash. That was what I wanted: a well-trained mare that I could continue with. Her price was very fair and since it was technically “off season,” the shipping didn’t kill me.

Meanwhile back at the ranch…: VSH’s site is still up, sort of. Most of the information, horse picture pages and definitely their “Policies” are gone, tho. Thankfully a quick-thinking COTHer saved the policies page for everyone’s amusement and .

Maybe now they realize that COTH is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

and that is why i do not deal with internet sales. You have to come to my stable and look at the horse and meet me and if i like you i MIGHT sell you my horse of not i will ask you to leave and never call me again.
