I dunno - like I said (and I’m the ultimate fat chick who frightens small children) seems like if you don’t like the policies - take your business elsewhere. My old dressage instructor, after seeing me for the first time in several years - asked me if there was something wrong with my well water. I told him if he wanted my business - he’d stick to teaching and not diet advice.

So he taught, I learned as best I could - and no big deal. I don’t recall posting his name on the Internet and egging people on to call and harass him or accuse him of illegal or unethical acts because I did not agree with his policies on teaching fat chicks in tight pants.

I don’t see how Dagan has been offensive - did you read the posts where a poster actually egg people on to call her and harass her to “spice things up”? Or suggesting people do a drive by? Or how 'bout the folks who insinuating that she sold horses to killer buyers, or was somehow committing a felony - exactly how is that “disagreeing with her policies” . Don’t you think that might have been more than mere disagreement?

Do you have any idea how frightening that is to know that there are people out there who are getting a kick out of seeing how much they can scare you?

I’m curious - why is any comment that does not indulge in the feeding frenzy meet with such antagonism? It’s just a website with text. Don’t like it - don’t buy from her. Don’t like her policies, let her know that if she wasn’t so stringent - you might be interested in her horses. Otherwise - let it go. I think the point has been made - the rest is just - what… I dunno.

edited to add - I think that word has gotten around - the under the bridge dwellers were here long before people got wind of a local horseman’s business being trashed on the very website that makes a heck of a lot of money of their advertising dollars.

The posters here are responding to facts (that used to be) posted on the farm owner’s own website.

Since there has been so much negative about the site (understandably), I thought I’d insert a positive.

So many posters have complained about sales websites that are not updated, that do not have pictures and prices, etc. It’s nice to go to a website that is kept current, that has pictures of their sales horses, and most have a video as well.

Uh… not sure I want to tarnish this positive comment but…

many of the sale ads on there are from years ago, and not exactly “kept current,” as you praised. Oh well, forgive my pickiness.

It is not “just a website with text” (what is ANY website???) That’s why this whole thing got started! Ya know, if it doesn’t smell right, then it isn’t. Horse “brokers”? Business?? I don’t know what most think, but if I was in the market to buy a horse, VHS would not be the place to go. And folks who have been there confirmed that!!! I don’t EVEN want to know where some of you shop for your riding horses!!!

I have found this to be a very entertaining discussion,and you know,there is no such thing as bad publicity.Any attention is better than no attention.Clearly this woman is entittled to run her business as she chooses ,and she has made it very clear how she intends to do so,and spells it all out ,so there should be no confusion,or unexpected surprises if you choose to deal with her.Many horse traders engage in sneaky and underhanded practices,and will lie,cheat and rob you blind ,with a smile and a wink.This lady makes her policies very clear,so anyone who wants to purchase a horse from her knows her terms.
I certainly would not buy a horse sight unseen,nor would I pay 500.00 to have a look.Really,though ,you can not protect people from themselves,and if people wanna go that route,well,last I looked,it is still a free country.
If I was going to give my unsolicited advice to Liz Booth,I might just suggest that she try working on her people skills a bit.Being honest and upfront about how you do business is a good thing,but insulting people’s intellegence and being rude ,is ,well,just bad for business.

If any of that frightens someone, I can only say they are easily frightened. I’ve seen no threats of death, or vandalism, or bodily harm. If someone drives past for a look, well, that’s not too dangerous. Some things aren’t worth being frightened of–I’ve actually had a death threat once, quite a few months ago, so I know of what I speak. BTW, I haven’t called VSH nor have I e-mailed, and I’m surely not going to drive by for a look

The killer buyers–I do think that most here (as I did) saw the part about liquidating the product at auction for $300 (I’m sure the word auction was used in one place?) and saw that as being a killer sale. I think that most places where a horse is sold at auction for $300 it is probably a killer sale, even if the horse is bought by a non-kill buyer, and that was surely the implication I got from what was written in that regard on the VSH site. So yes, any comments on that part of it I did see as disagreement with the VSH policy.

And yes, Dagan has been the most offensive person here. Kudos to Dagan, though, he/she/it has probably succeeded where J Swan has failed. Good plan, bring out the trolls.

I continue to be confused by this statement. We (I posted once on page 7 or so, so I am a part of this) responded to the words written on her web site. That is a fact. There is no disputing that we were responding to what was written on the web site.

As someone else said, if her site was hacked and someone else put that stuff up, then that is another story. That does not appear to be the case.

Actually I posted in the hopes of getting the trolls to crawl back under the bridge…and I find it offensive when someone compares a horse dealer that they don’t even know to a “horse killer”. Typical riot mentality…this thread just keeps escalating and getting uglier and uglier.

As for only posting three times…if any of you could READ…you’d have noticed that I said that I NEVER heard of Chronicle of the Horse until a friend sent me a link to this thread.

I’ve been reading through some of the other threads and they aren’t quite as bad…but I can’t believe a reputable publication sanctions the kind of abuse that has gone on in this thread.

Again, I hope Liz Booth sues Chronicle of the Horse for all it’s worth…the only thing that would be better would be her suing the people doing the actual trashing.

Oh, don’t tell anyone you want facts…or comments from Ms. Booth or her customers…you’ve had comments from her customers and people who know her and all those people got in return was sarcasm and nasty comments.
