A *sensative* subject for the ladies

ok, can we talk chafing? No one ever does. But I CAN’T be the only person with this problem, can I?

I am finding I have a sore spot on my legs. Right in the crease where your leg meets the bikini line. Right on the line where your underwear hits. And right on the bottom, where the inseam of your pants would hit on your bikini line (If that makes any sense).

I have tried different britches, and none seem to rub any more or less than others, so I don’t think it is that. I have tried boy-short type underwear, but they just roll and bunch up when I pull on my britches, and rub even more.

Anyone have any suggestions? Please tell me I am not so freak of nature. Anyone else have these issues??

Do a search on here for “Inverness Problem.”

Do read the Inverness thread

That being said, I used to have a similar issue. It disappeared when I got a saddle that really fit me.

Change your underwear

I get if I wear the wrong underwear. I typically wear Jocket French Cut and have no problem but if there is elastic that is worn so not covered, I chafe.

Oh thank god, I am not some freak. I see many others have similar issues. Thanks for the link to the thread. Lots of info (and a few laughs).

The Inverness thread is a classic for discussing a “sensitive” topic.

Monistat anti chafe gel sold at any drugstore…

Bodyglide!

I ran into similar issues when I was doing competitive cycling. What we cyclists did to solve the problem:

  1. use “Chamois butter” or other product to reduce chafing
  2. Selection of underwear
  3. Go commando.

#3 doesn’t really work for equestrian sports, but #1 and #2 do. I will sometimes use a chamois butter type product along with underwear that is similar to what I used for cycling. Longer short type underwear with panels constructed so there are no seams in sensitive areas. That almost completely eliminates chafing and there are no panty lines either.

That’s twice in the past five minutes I have seen the word “sensitive” spelled “sensative.” Ugly! I must be too sensitive.

I’ve only had this problem with certain pairs of underwear. They feel like they’re cutting my legs off after a few minutes in a deep seat dressage saddle. I just avoid wearing those pairs of underwear.

If your skin is very sensitive, look for underwear made for sports.

Oh gosh… I first discovered COTH sometime in 2001 and the Inverness thread was one of the first to get me truly hooked. I remember reading it in the library and trying desperately to hide my mirth. My goodness, how this board has changed since then!

OP, I second or third or fourth the suggestion for sports underwear… some cycling shorts, for example, can be effective.

Never had an issue until I moved to the South…Burt’s Bees Almond Milk BeesWax Hand Cream.

BodyGlide is amazing stuff. You can get it at your local sporting goods store. I had the issue before, realized my saddle was on the small size because I didn’t know the seat could shrink over time  the Bodyglide helped the issue until I got a new saddle with a larger seat. It also works well if your boots or shoes chafe, I use it with a few pairs of sandals that I love but rub the sides of my feet.

pantyhose or tights under your breeches. No panties. Works great - no seams.

You can thank our system of education for adopting Hooked on Phonics.

Once upon a time…

it is sad. This was a lot more fun back then. Go check out the helicopter thread. You might get at least one laugh.
