Yes!!! An ouce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, especially while you are figuring out if your “almost seat” problem is your seat or your saddle or both.

Once upon a time…
it is sad. This was a lot more fun back then. Go check out the helicopter thread. You might get at least one laugh. ;)
Thanks Velvet, I will! I do so miss the old cast of characters but at least there are still a few moments of comic genius now and then…
What you describe is one of the main motivating factors in our breech design. FITS seamless, athletic gusseted crotch makes a big difference. http://www.fitsriding.com/breechdesign.php
Sounds like your saddle might be the main issue…
A quote from the Inverness thread
Can I persuade ya’ll ladies to refrain from referring to this delicate condition as, “The Inverness Problem?” The term “Dressage Crotch” is much more appropriate don’t you think?
I’m not terribly anxious to be forever remembered on this BB for injuries to the “community property.”
BTW, Kennett Square may be facing charges for contributing to this “problem.” Although at the tender age of twelve, I doubt that last night’s unfortunate student will be suing for loss of consortium, but she clearly can make a case for intentional infliction of genital distress. Hmm, maybe even assault and battery with a mareish weapon . . .
Heh. heh heh.
Microfiber, no seam! Lightweight and available in most big box stores. I think they are made by Hanes or Fruit of the Loom.

Same here! You can also find them at most lingerie stores.

Some genius is going to market the “Inverness” breech.
Aw Dottie, that brings up such fun memories of dear poster Kennett Square, God rest her soul. IIRC, she’s the first BBer we lost. Or the second, and Cactuskate was first.
I was just thinking about CactusKate the other day

I ran into similar issues when I was doing competitive cycling. What we cyclists did to solve the problem:
#3 doesn’t really work for equestrian sports, but #1 and #2 do. I will sometimes use a chamois butter type product along with underwear that is similar to what I used for cycling. Longer short type underwear with panels constructed so there are no seams in sensitive areas. That almost completely eliminates chafing and there are no panty lines either.
Really…I do #3 every day! I hate wedgies…and with a ghetto booty like mine there is no underwear that does not give me one…hehe
Talcum powder, applied to likely friction points before you ride. Cheap, readily available and generally seems to work.
Then all the rest about cut of clothing, etc.

microfiber boyshorts! or highwaisted spanx.
Commando
Where would I find these underwear without seams?? Do they sell them at sporting goods stores?
I think it is a mix of sensitive skin, plus my seat. It is worse on one side than the other. So, that leads me to believe I am not quite balanced in my seat.
That being said, I will need something to help me deal with the issue now. So I don’t dread the hours in the saddle needed to fix my seat.
ceciley, I found them at either Wallyworld or Target or some such store. I believe they are made by Hanes.
Ahhhhhh, threads like this are how you KNOW you are a COTH “veteran.” When you see the word “sensitive” (or similar) in the dressage forum or someone is obviously embarrassed to bring up a “personal” topic, and your brain immediately shouts out, “INVERNESSSSS!!!” you know you are officially a COTH veteran.
I found a pair of riding long line shorts on sale at the tack store.
no seams in crotch, long line down to above the knee
a life saver
agree with commando as well.
You can find similar long underwear at outdoor stores, like REI Big 5
runners and bikers wear them.
Body Glide is a nice product but for me the issue was mostly the elastic rubbing against the tendon that comes off the epubis and down into the inner thigh.

YES! That is exactly where it is rubbing on me. I was too busy this weekend, but I am off to DICKS Sportinggoods tomorrow to find some seamless panties.
