Advice for naive horse buyers

Good job friendlyhands! Sounds like you accomplished your mission to help spread some common sense and hopefully save a young rider from a potentially damaging situation.

yes!!! dressage junior who liked to lease schoolmasters in my budget as a working AA who eventually wanted to own property in a coastal city - so that meant stepping down jumpers or eventers.

rode tonnes of jumper courses like an eq course, sometimes showing off my dressage skills by canter pirouetting a rollback in a lil .75 class on my lease horse - got a slow clap from clinician who said β€œride it handy”

To speak to the OG thread content. I have NEVER owned in my 20+ years of riding! Always leased because I changed disciplines a few times (eventing as a kid, dressage as junior, jumpers and dressage as AA) and have taken a handful of breaks as an adult due to education and career obligations etc.
