Intubated or not, he looks peaceful. But his poor little mouth must be SO DRY! When I have come out of surgery, after a tube has been put in, I long for ice chips for my mouth and chapstick for my lips. Perhaps that is one reason why, when he wakes up, he is so restless?
What a way to see in the New Year! With good news all the way around: Perfect liver, no infection, less fluid, sleeping through the night peacefully.
I was angry at the Fates because I care so much. Now I am back to praying for speedy recovery from here on in. Every hour that passes without a problem gives him more strength, and for that I am very thankful.
So glad to hear that you and Joey got a little sleep last night (although 4 hours, as tired as you must be, doesn’t sound like much…)

PS: Lisa, ever since you wrote about the number of people in the PICU waiting room (50!!) I have been thinking about all the other children in the ICU. How many are there? When one child has a downturn, it must be so worrying to all of the rest of you…
