I was on the phone with my Dad and stepmom, who I’ve been updating via email, when I got this latest news. I was walking them through the process of finding this thread, when all of a sudden I screamed “His lung is better! He’s breathing! OH MY GOD!!” And burst into tears.
It was such a wonderful thing to be able to share that moment with my family.

Well after GA and Upperville (which I just may go to!) Aiden has to come to NY (Hamptons!) for a leadline class! Many celebrities attend but he will be the BIGGEST celeb there!!

The friendships you make there in PICU will be with you and Aiden forever. You will create a bond with those children and families that will endure all things … it will endure even more closely than the relationships with your own families…
2 years ago Christmas we came to the end of 2 bone marrow transplants with my Granddaughter. After so many months (11 1/2) of our struggle and fight, the shared successes and losses that occurred with the other families during that time, the bond between the parents is something magical and incredibly and unexplainable.
Treasure those new relationships and as parents just know that the new links and bonds between you and the other parents in that ICU will endure all things. No one can truly understand just EXACTLY what you have been through except another parent of another child in that type of danger.
Yes, family and friends can support, love and encourage you BUT only another parent in the same situation can truly empathize with what you have dealt with in your heart and emotions.
As difficult as it was for me, a grandparent, to get through the struggle … I cannot tell you just how important the other parents of the other children were to my son and his wife.
Love that closeness and know that those relationships will stay with you and Aiden for the rest of your lives … those are “gifts” the good Lord gives out to those of you actually fighting the parent struggle.
Grasp them, soak them up, enjoy them and know they will remain on your heart forever …

I cannot even fathom how incredibly hard this must all be for you!! On the one hand to see your beloved little baby looking heathier than he ever has, but on the other hand to be so unsure of the future… But like everyone has said over and over, little Aiden is a FIGHTER!! Keep the faith.
