I’m enjoying Fortune’s Fool.

What the Heart Wants is a contemporary romance novel set in the world of dressage. If you like love stories and horses, you’ll enjoy this book!

I talk to animals.

Not in actual words, mind you. It’s all about sensing energy and emotion. Too bad I don’t have that ability with men. My last three relationships crashed and burned. In fact, I’m officially done with dating. Besides, with a thriving equestrian business to run, who has the time?

Everything changed when Leo comes roaring into my life.

Leo is a stunning black gelding with talent to burn and an insecurity streak a mile wide. After one ride, I know I have to keep him even if it means putting up with his human entourage.

Katherine, Leo’s rider, is a corrosive element if I ever saw one. But it’s Nicholas, the owner of Leo and boyfriend of Katherine, who has me seriously worried. He is, quite simply, the most beautiful man I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s not only his good looks that have me mesmerized, there’s something different about him…something that has all my senses short-circuiting.

Just saw this now, but I am so happy this book is out! I know what I’m doing this weekend…

You might be a farrier if . . .

Happy Farriers Week to all these talented, hard working people!

From The Farriers Journal:

You might be a farrier if …

Someone says they’re using coke and you think they are using it for a forge.

Traveled with friends or family and pointed out all the places you shod horses along the route.

Watched a movie with horses in it and thought the shoeing was inappropriate for the era.

Used a shoeing nail as a toothpick.

Your most important client is the horse.

Your favorite reading material in the washroom is the American Farriers Journal, cover to cover.

You’re talking to someone who doesn’t know your profession and thinks you’re terrible when you say, “I shod (shot) three horses.”

You review your shoeing in your sleep.

If, as a man, wearing an apron doesn’t make you blush.

If the fly spray you use (Skin So Soft) is mistaken for perfume.

You spend more time looking down than at the sky.

I’m really excited to announce that the sequel to Fortune’s Fool, Quick Bright Things Come to Confusion, is now available in the Kindle Store!

Only $2.99 (and free with Kindle Unlimited).

Thanks for reading!

I just finished it and I really enjoyed it! I’m glad that Simon is such a human character, flaws and all. It really adds to the believability of the book in a genre that tends towards unbelievability.

Thank you!

Yes, Simon definitely shows more of his flaws in this second book since he has gotten older and is moving along in his career!

So glad I checked this thread! I really liked Fortune’s Fool and and am very much enjoying the sequel so far
The book dedication was touching too.

Thank you so much, @flight!

Benjamin Winter passed away when I was writing Fortune’s Fool, so I was originally going to dedicate Quick Bright Things Come to Confusion to him.

Then Olivia Inglis passed away when I was writing the book itself and while I was editing it, virtually in my backyard, Philippa Humphreys died at Jersey Fresh. I felt I had to honor them, in the only way I knew how, since they were all risking so much versus myself, who takes her biggest risks behind a computer keyboard (since I do not ride at the level of my protagonist).

Just read the sequel and it’s fabulous! Thanks for writing, and please do more

Thank you so much @GreyDes! A sequel is in the works! I’m not as prolific as some horse book authors but I’m aiming for a new book every 12-18 months!

Particularly for those of you who like racing fiction, Mara Dabrishus’ Finding Daylight is on sale for $1.99 at Amazon for the next 24 hours (it is regularly $3.99):

I haven’t read this one (it’s Mara’s latest) but I did enjoy her first book Finding Daylight very much.

Grace Wilkinson’s Loxwood, Volumes 1 and 2 of the four-book series, are now available on Amazon for .99 each.

I haven’t read it yet but I just purchased the first book and I’m looking forward to delving into it.

Dyeing the white markings on a horse

Has anyone ever tried making their spotted horse(mines a tobiano) a solid color? She is Chestnut and we are doing a costume class at a show in about 2 weeks. She has large white patches on her backside and all 4 legs are white as well, she also has some small patches here and there on her body and in her mane and tail that I would like to just make all one color. We have dyed small parts of her white patches before but we used kool-aid (she was a clown horse). I’m looking for a more natural color to dye her all over, or just her white markings to make her a solid color.

Sorry I just realized this is in the wrong place.
