Hunt Country Suspense Novels by Jan Neuharth. One of them was free so I bought it and then realized there were two others. I read all three of them in days. I literally could not put them down. Worth the money in my opinion!

Free on Kindle right now!
Author is a good friend, and she dedicated it to all of us carriage folk

Tried to get one of the freebies posted through my Amazon Prime account. Turns out you have to have Kindle (only) to take advantage of that freebie and the lending library. I wrote to Amazon to complain as that is a nice bene I was looking forward to. They responded that is the way it is right now but could change in the future. So all you COTHers with iPads or other eReaders who have Amazon Prime please let your voices be heard.

This is a fantastic idea! I keep a running “wish list” for my Kindle, especially the lending library, so I always have an idea of something to read. Subscribed to this thread so I don’t miss any notifications!

I don’t have a Amazon Prime account and I don’t have a Kindle. I download the free books to my laptop. I had to load some kind of free reader for it but I read a lot of the free books posted here. By the way everybody, thanks for posting them.

Free books are free to anyone. The Amazon Prime lending library is a different thing.

Delightful and fascinating free book from 1867 on trotters…all kinds of info and instruction, interspersed with poetry and musings, they don’t write 'em like this anymore!

Good reviews (118 out of 148 5 & 4 stars): “If you’re looking for a story with several plotlines, a hint of civil war memorabilia, and a desire to root for the heroes, this is the one for you.” First in series of four.

2 Reviews (one 4, one 5 star): “Good plots and backgrounds provided from two parts of the world. Based on a true loss of many foals, years ago in Kentucky, but throwing in a fictional twist of foreign involvement. The ending was a little sudden and some questions remain.”

Highly recommend these! I read most of the series before I really knew much about horses; I’ve started purchasing them for my Kindle to reread.

Laura Crum is a mystery author who has spent over twenty years training and competing on western cowhorses. She has also written twelve books in her mystery series featuring equine veterinarian Gail McCarthy. Laura still rides and owns horses and lives in the hills near Monterey Bay in California with her husband and son. Trail riding is her current passion. She may be emailed and visited at www.lauracrum.com and she blogs on Wednesdays at equestrianink blogspot.

Interesting storyline, pretty good review, $0.99 - adding to my Wish List for when I want something new.

“…heart-warming saga that passes through nearly eight decades and three generations, finally concluding with a twist in 2008. An enjoyable read with just the right amount of romance, intrigue, mystery, friendships, history and politics surrounding the mustang of the West makes this a very difficult book to put down and equally hard to forget.”

"Eighteen-year-old Tanzy Hightower knows horses, has grown up with them on Wildwood Farm. She also knows not to venture beyond the trees that line the pasture. Things happen out there that can’t be explained. Or undone. Worse, no one but she and the horses can see what lurks in the shadows of the woods.

When a moonlit ride turns into a terrifying chase, Tanzy is left to question everything, from the freak accident that killed her father to the very blood in her veins. Broken and confused, she turns to Lucas, a scarred, beautiful stranger, and to Vanessa, a charming new friend who has everything Tanzy doesn’t.

But why do they seem to know more about her than she knows herself"

I’ve been waiting for this one! Great, frothy, turn-your-brain-off fun (at least the other ones were).

HANCHART LAND – Becky Barker

http://www.amazon.com/Hanchart-Land-ebook/dp/B004HO5G0Y/ref=sr_1_37?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1370295071&sr=1-37&keywords=horse

ONE REVIEW/SUMMARY: Susan only married Shane because he’d blackmailed her into it. As in life, Shane’s death doesn’t provide relief, instead she’s left with a mountain of debt because of his gambling and medical expenses. She has no choice but to sell Shane’s portion of the Hanchart land. His will specifies that she couldn’t sell the land to any of his family.

Luke Hanchart intends to do whatever it takes to ensure that no part of the Hanchart land falls into the hands of an outsider. He knows that costs associated with Shane’s illness and death are leaving Susan no choice but to sell out. Luke’s willing to pay the debts and allow her to stay in the home she’d shared with Shane for two years. She refuses. There’s no way she wants anything to do with Shane or his home. That leaves only one other option - marriage.

Luke and Susan had been friends before Shane stepped in and blackmailed Susan into marriage. He’d been there for her when her parents had been killed in a car wreck. He’d even introduced her to the mares on the ranch when she desperately needed something to keep her busy. Even after marrying Shane, Susan continued working with the mares and she’d miss them horribly when she leaves for Houston. Luke catches Susan saying her goodbyes to the mares and makes his final bid at keeping the land in the family. He asks Susan to marry him, only this will be no marriage of convenience. Luke wants a real wife, children and will not consider a divorce - ever! Luke has no idea about the true circumstances behind Susan and Shane’s marriage. How will he handle learning the truth?

Becky Barker’s HANCHART LAND is an awesome story. Readers will delight in Susan’s spirit and determination to protect those she loves, even if it does cost her more than she’s willing to pay. I practically pumped my fist in the air about half way through the story when I read how she dealt with Shane at one point. Sorry, you have to read the book for yourself to find out what happened, but I guarantee it’s kick butt and installs a “you go girl” attitude just reading it. Luke’s a great guy who’s been in love with Susan for years but doesn’t understand why she married Shane or if he can even trust her now. I loved the whole idea of this story. The passionate desire between Luke and Susan has burned bright over the years despite her marriage. You just know they are perfect for each other.
