Ellie is a young woman, not so unlike any other young woman in today’s world. She’s in love, perhaps with the wrong man. She’s self-supporting, if always being a week behind counts. She’s kind and considerate, unless crossed. She’s true to herself and others. She is the best of best friends, is attentive to her grandmother, and she loves horses. What is different about Ellie is the fact that she is followed through life by a flock of crows.

Ellie’s Crows depicts the last few weeks of her Grandma Betty’s life in a nursing home; a very clean, antiseptic facility, with very little love to go around. Ellie is the sunshine of her days, and as death grows near, her companion throughout her long nights. Ellie’s Crows is a celebration of life, and all it encompasses; laughter, tears, fear, triumph…and the realization that perhaps, just perhaps, happiness lies within.

No idea if it’s any good, just saw it listed.

The Bridle Path-free Fri Jun 28

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007QN7WQY/

The Bridle Path is a short sweet fairy tale romance for us grown ups, set in the county of Cornwall:
Two years after being orphaned in a horrific car crash, twelve year old Sebby remains silent and zombie-like. His aunt and guardian Matilda hopes that a new home in the tranquillity of the Cornish countryside will help restore his health.
Sebby is quickly befriended by the precocious Winny, only child of a local farmer, Greg D’Silva, who is not exactly a knight in shining armour, but looks good on horseback; and even better in jodphurs. Too bad he’s already claimed by pretty, confident Mary-Jo.
As Sebby emerges from a self-imposed prison, Matilda also finds her voice; aware that she too has been drifting through life, content with “good enough” when she could be magnificent. From being afraid to say “Boo” to a goose, Matilda finally finds the strength to go after exactly what she wants on her terms.
A bonus chapter from Jenny Worstall’s acclaimed romantic comedy, “Make A Joyful Noise”, follows this edition of “The Bridle Path”.

Horse with No Name, what your e-reader will read depends on what kind it is, and what format it is designed to read. Nooks use epub, Kindles use azw and prc. There are other e-readers as well. Books without DRM (software that keeps you from making any modifications to text as well as piracy prevention) can be edited in Calibre, a free software program. There are many free books available, and those that are not locked down by DRM can be changed to the format for your reader.
Calibre lets you organize your books, and since the titles and such can be rather esoteric, you can add numbers to a series so that you know which book comes when, retitle so that the author name is first - Rita Mae Brown - The Hunt Ball - instead of “The Hunt Ball”, with Brown’s name listed in a secondary column. The first way sorts in your kindle, and probably in other e-readers, so that it is alphabetically arranged by author name.
There are many other things to make your e-reader more enjoyable, so visit the forum boards for the brand you bought. Those people have all the same questions. If you bought a Nook, it isn’t going to read Kindle-format books. A lot of books are available in multiple formats.
You’ve just gotten something that will make your life much easier and save your house from collapsing under the weight of bookcases. I never have to get up at 3 a.m. and hunt for something else to read, as I have hundreds of books right there on my reader that I haven’t read yet, thanks to all the free promotional books that come out. And the cat finds that getting thonked on the head by an e-reader when I fall asleep is far less uncomfortable than getting thonked by an 800-page tome.

Here’s one a short story and a paranormal romance…

To Carry the Horn - A Virginian in Elfland
Volume 1 of The Hounds of Annwn.

George Talbot Traherne is just doing his job on a fine autumn morning, keeping the hounds together for the huntsman of the Rowanton Hunt in Virginia along the Blue Ridge Mountain. Doesn’t pay to get distracted by a white stag in unfamiliar territory, though. Next thing you know, you might find yourself… somewhere else.

The land is the same but not the people. Their huntsman has just been murdered, and George is tapped for the job. It’s an emergency – the Wild Hunt is only two weeks away, and if it doesn’t happen on schedule, the antlered god Cernunnos will take the realm from its ruler Gwyn ap Nudd and find someone who can mete out justice with the Hounds of Hell in his place.

George throws himself into the task, finding strength in the mission and resources he never knew he had. The more he comes to feel at home, settling into his new responsibilities, the more he wants to stay and make a life for himself. He’s finally met someone worth spending his life with, even if she’s just a bit older, a mere fifteen hundred years or so.

Can he keep the Wild Hunt on track despite the attempts to thwart it? Will he be accepted by those he wants to defend who view his timely presence and his human blood with suspicion? Above all, what does Cernunnos want of him and how far will he go? Can he survive the attention of a god?

Readers who are familiar with the sources of Arthurian literature such as the Mabinogion will recognize many of the characters, flourishing still in the world we cannot quite reach.

See where the USA Today Bestselling Author Kathleen Brooks began!
This is the first book in Kathleen Brooks’ Best-Selling Bluegrass Series.

McKenna Mason, a New York City attorney with a love of all things Prada, is on the run from a group of powerful, dangerous men. McKenna turns to a teenage crush, Will Ashton, for help in starting a new life in beautiful horse country. She finds that Will is now a handsome, successful race horse farm owner. As the old flame is ignited, complications are aplenty in the form of a nasty ex-wife, an ex-boyfriend intent on killing her, and a feisty race horse who refuses to race without a kiss. Can Will and McKenna cross the finish line together, and more importantly, alive?

WARNING: I got utterly sucked in, and am now the proud owner of not only the 3 book Bluegrass series, and the four Bluegrass Brothers books as well. Fun, light but captures your interest, and you will TOTALLY get sucked in!

ETA: Ok, so I noticed on the list of COTH contributors, one is named Paige Cade. In this series, there is a large family, and the only girl is Paige, and one of her brothers is Cade. Wonder if that was subconscious or on purpose? LOL

The Amulet: A Faedra Bennett Custodian Novel

To seventeen-year-old Faedra, faeries were nothing more than the figurines she collected and displayed in her curio cabinet. Or so she thought…

Faedra had no idea that faeries controlled nature, and with a book no less. Nor did she know that her ancestors had protected an ancient fae amulet for thousands of years. An amulet, that if reunited with the book, would give the wearer power to control the weather, too. She didn’t know all this because the one person to teach her died when she was just six years old. Well, now it was time for her to find out…

A letter from the grave reveals her true identity the day of her eighteenth birthday. But she barely has time to digest the revelation when she is plunged into a fight for her life and that of mankind.
