We’ll Have The Summer (Kindle Edition)
by Dutch Henry

http://www.amazon.com/Well-Have-The-Summer-ebook/dp/B004QS989G/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1373490051&sr=1-1&keywords=we'll+have+the+summer

The doctors say she’ll be gone by fall, but they have one last summer. One hot summer to consummate a lifetime of love, to cry together, laugh together … remember together. When a troubled teenage girl and an injured horse turn to them for help, Mary and Sam Holt find enough room in their own large and breaking hearts to show the girl life’s glories and restore a champion’s will. We’ll Have The Summer is a magnificent story about life, love, and horses.

This is $4.95, not free, but it’s very good. I started it, thinking it would be a quickie, but I couldn’t put it down. Have your kleenex or your hankie handy. I can lend it to one person if anyone is interested.
I got this one for free a while ago… I really liked it… and you’re right about the kleenex… of course I’m a sap!

this one has my old horse in it. Her new owner is an author and used her in this story.

The Amulet: A Faedra Bennett Custodian Novel

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P67HYO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0545208858&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1W4DAF0F99D7SNRMNYCQ

To seventeen-year-old Faedra, faeries were nothing more than the figurines she collected and displayed in her curio cabinet. Or so she thought…

Faedra had no idea that faeries controlled nature, and with a book no less. Nor did she know that her ancestors had protected an ancient fae amulet for thousands of years. An amulet, that if reunited with the book, would give the wearer power to control the weather, too. She didn’t know all this because the one person to teach her died when she was just six years old. Well, now it was time for her to find out…

A letter from the grave reveals her true identity the day of her eighteenth birthday. But she barely has time to digest the revelation when she is plunged into a fight for her life and that of mankind.
Got it, thanks!

i took it too, thanks!

Are you the author, by any chance? This is a really sweet book with a lovable protagonist. As soon as I finished it, I ordered the second one in the series.

Thanks, Discobold. Yes, I am the author, and long-time lurker here. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book, and really appreciate your comment.

I think writing must be a lot like cooking: you have to enjoy the process, but there’s nothing more gratifying than knowing people enjoy consuming what you’ve prepared for them. It really makes my day.

Thanks Pat9, the Ereader I bought was some obscure brand and I had a devil of a time trying to work it, although admittedly I didn’t try too hard  Have since sold it on and am now looking at Kindles, but oh my gosh, so many different ones - black, white, with back light, without back light, 7", 6"… For now I’ve been Kindling on my laptop until I decide.

I just finished it and really enjoyed it also!

I loved “Born That Way”, too!

I just finished the third in the “Born That Way” series. When’s the fourth coming out? You left us hanging

Horse with No Name, we have a herd of Kindles at our house, all different! The one that lives in my purse is a Paperwhite, so I can read it in dark places without a light, and when we travel, I don’t have to fuss with lighting. The one that lives at my side of the bed is the one that’s presently 69.00, and I like it, too. The Kindle 2 is primarily retired, but it’s full of books, and I recharge it every so often in case I want to read something on it. My husband has yet a different kindle model, and so does my grandson. The paperwhite really did a great job for me when I was reading Karen Myers’ “To Carry the Horn” series (superb, magnificent, incredible) and read until long into the night. Since I didn’t have to have a light on, I didn’t disturb my husband. Now it looks as though I’d better check out this “Born that Way” series.

Absolutely LOVE the Bluegrass series (both of them…)

I got my original style Kindle off eBay. It came preloaded with a ton of books (most of which I will never read, and am slowly deleting as I run across them) and a really nice cover that has a built-in light that pulls out in the upper right-hand corner, which drives DH nuts when I read in bed (he would actually prefer the small lamp on the nightstand be on). I do wish I’d sprung for the one that is backlit every once in a while, but I am very happy with what I got. Seller was super nice, and answered a couple questions a few weeks after I got it (when I found time to turn it on LOL).

It is super handy while on the train, or traveling to a friend’s house, although I still truly luuuuuv my actual books.

Thanks Discobold, M.K.Smith and HalteranAlter. I’m so happy you enjoyed the books!

I’m about 5000 words into a fourth, but my writing attic tends to be hot in the summer time so I spend more time with the horses. Sometimes it’s too hot for riding too, so we play around a lot. This came in handy when I needed a couple of horse actors for my book trailer video - they were competing with each other for time in front of the camera  Here’s the link - be sure to watch to the end for the out-takes! http://youtu.be/mCTmjIZrZp0

Just found this - La Grulla by John R. Wright. An historical Old West novel.

I was at the beach last week and read “Born That Way”. When I finished I promptly downloaded the next two in the series and read those while hanging out under the beach umbrella. Really enjoyed them. I’m not a big consumer of YA fiction but I liked the protagonist a lot and thought the writing was pretty clever. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.

Thank you, mswillie! I am doing my happy author dance. So glad I could enhance your umbrella time
