Ok so yall are saying that it will be too long for someone 5’3" w/ a short torso, right? Stop me from pulling the trigger on this coat…I just got a shadbelly this weekend. DH will NOT be happy if I get this…but I really want it.
I usually wear a tall in Grand Prix. Are y’all saying this coat might fit me? A friend just got one, and the fabric seems amazing. Not a bad price either.
I also always wear a tall in Grand Prix and I like the fit of this coat on me. I am 5’11, but more length in my legs then my torso. The sleeves are just as along as my GP tall. If you want to see pics of it on someone who is 5’11 check out my blog, I have a few photos up of me wearing mine (a sz small).
Here is the link to that specific post so it’s easier to find: https://hunkyhanoverian.wordpress.com/2017/06/16/product-review-alessandro-albanese-motionlite-show-coat/
IPEsq, I just saw this coat at the Colo Horse Park (vendor next to CWD booth) and I want one. They are not cut short, so depending on where you want it to hit, may fit. I am 5’7" and would not look short on me. Horsie just coming out of rehab and still a question, I passed today, but driving home I thought, Wait, I could also wear it with jeans for casual dress work meetings. Gonna get one next week. Quoted $270 at the horse park vendor, but get to try it on. Adding, re work meeting jacket, that it should pack and come out wrinkle free!
@Plumcreek Thanks I tried it on at the horse park and it looked wrong on me in several areas. Just didn’t hang right, and a tad short in the body. Too bad. Several riders were wearing one at the show and looked nice. I think I just need a more traditional fabric?
Has anyone on the larger end tried these? My RJ Classics coats are both 18R and I’m wondering if a XL would work or I should try to get an XXL?
I’m busty and wonder how they would fit? I ordered a Horsewear jacket that is beautiful, but it gaps over my boobs and is loose around the waist. I could take the waist in, but can’t really add anything to the top to create room, which sucks.
I’m resurrecting this thread… Anyone that has this jacket, I’m a size 8 in street clothes and busty. Would you recommend the medium or the large? Please help!
So I’m a 5’7 and size 6ish in street clothes and I ended up with the small. Pic attached for reference (the black coat). I think you will do well in the M. I wish they were a hair longer, but I know the style is slim/short these days. Excuse the insert… I have no idea what I’m doing!
To the person asking…I’m short, 5ft2, and they’re too long on me!
This helps so much! Several people that have reviewed this jacket have said the sleeves run long, this has me very excited to fit my monkey arms!
5’6", size 8 in street clothes and busty, small waist - bought the Medium; the material is stretchy, which allows for it to be a little tight over the chest while still allowing arm/shoulder movement. The zipper keeps the buttons from gaping (a definite plus if you have more up top). Going up a size to a large would have lost the lovely nipped in waist. Sleeves do run long. Unable to see white top through coat. Hope this helps!
Tried them on… the medium caused this weird armpit stretch but the large was too big. Not impressed. Would rather spend the money on Animo, Equiline or Grand Prix.
I drove 2 hours to see one on Friday to the closest Dover and they didn’t have one in the store! I did end up buying a Tredstep Solo that was on clearance, instead. I have an RJ Classics Monterey Extreme, which I loved, except it isn’t quite as long as I would like. My last trainer HATES it. I admit it isn’t as pretty and doesn’t hang as well as a traditional coat, but it is so cool and comfortable! I’m hoping the Tredstep will be one that I can stand to wear (after my Monterey experience), but also gives me a more classic look.
I’m 5’2 with a short torso. I tried this jacket on and it was a hard no. Was not designed for someone my shape and size. Way too long.
Cavalleria Toscana however fit me like a damn dream off the rack. That was a purchase I wasn’t planning on making but I turned around and sold an ill-fitting Animo to recoup half that purchase. Animo was also too long in the torso for me.
We have these in the tack store where I work and the manager convinced me to try one on. I haven’t shown in several years and the softshell fabrics have improved from when I first tried them on. I wear an 8 in street clothes and the medium AA motionlite fit me well. It looks good from far away, but I hate the look of the larger mesh close up. I am 5’6" and the length was good on me. I have long arms and an average to slightly short torso. For me personally, I’d buy the RJ Classics Nora at $239 over the AA motionlite at $180, but if I were showing in hot weather my answer would possibly be different.
Bumping an old thread, sorry!
I’m super on the fence of what size to order in this coat… I’m a medium in tops usually, 28 in breeches (128lbs If that’s applicable…) but when I measure myself to compare to the size chart I actually measure as a small. Can anyone shed some light on if it’s better to order usual size or follow their chart?
Thanks! Tack store is about a 3 hour drive so not super feasible to go try on.
Do you have the flexibility to order two sizes? If so, then you can try both on and return the one that doesn’t fit. If done quickly, you can get it done before a CC payment is due. Sizing can also depend on bust size too. I am usually a small or medium in tops and felt most comfortable in a small, but everyone’s body is different.
I feel like the Queen of Ordering Several Sizes and Returning That Which Does Not Fit. For me, Riding Warehouse seems to have the quickest shipping and processing of returned items. Plus a paid, return label is enclosed to send back what you don’t want. They do carry the AA Motionlite coats.
I tried it on so I didn’t have to pay attention to what their sizing is, but it was in line with my normal size
