Seriously, the feed has improved a TON! Not it isn’t USEFNetwork quality but hey, USEFNetwork does have a lot of experience covering horse shows. I’m really glad they chose to listen to us and improve their feed. I can now tell that it is a horse going over the jumps. THANK YOU!
I was very fortunate, many years ago, to see the legendary Wing Commander at the Lexington Junior League Horse Show. Although I never leaned to the gaited horses, Wing Commander was in a league of his own. Even my father, who liked horses but was not a fan, was impressed. I feel honored to have seen him live.
This might have been posted earlier, but why are there so few horses in the saddle seat classes?
What time does the 1.50 class start?

I posted an answer to this same question a few pages back. Basically this show is bad timing for the Saddlebred circuit. We just had a national level show last weekend, The Mane Event in Springfield, IL, where the Good Hands Finals (which was originally at the NHS when it was at Madison Square Garden) is now held. And we have our second biggest horse show of the year coming up very shortly, Nov. 12-16 the UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show in Kansas City, MO. When the National Horse Show did not have Saddlebred, Hackney Pony and Saddle Seat Equitation divisions for several years it is going to have to work to bring those exhibitors back, especially when it falls in between a very historical national level show (the Royal) and a national level show whose popularity has grown tremendously over the last few years (The Mane Event).

I have to ask - do the saddlebred people really care about this show? I think it would be cool if the numbers would grow. I’m just curious if people on the saddlebred circuit are excited about being included or not, and if people actually WANT to attend (even if they can’t because of timing).

I think some of it can be poor timing since a mid-west show just finished on Sunday and there’s a big show for the Saddlebreds coming up in a couple weeks called the American Royal which is a very elite show and has equitation classes as important as the Macclays.
But unfortunately many of the classes even at the bigger shows haven’t been so well attended. Considering this is right in the Saddlebred industrys’ back yard it is a little disappointing. I prefer larger classes.
Could also be that the offerings for the gaited horses and ponies is limited and geared more towards H/J. Because at most shows they run day and niht for classes.
I’m disappointed that I still can’t access the feed via the Alltech link- I heard it was much improved today. Anyone have any tips? I’m a dedicated Chrome user.

Unfortunately it’s kind of an awkward date range for the ASB peeps. Most barns were out in the Midwest for Mane Event last week and will be in Kansas City is week and next for the ASB portion of the Royal. Difficult to justify driving back here for 4 days in between. There is also a big select Saddlebred sale in Shelbyville running simultaneously to this, and I don’t know that I would want to be sales prepping horses and show prepping horses and getting them into 2 rings in 2 different towns at once!
Was reminiscing w/ some Canadian trainers who came down to attend both the NHS and the sale and we recalled that the reason the dates worked BITD was b/c everybody did the NHS in NYC and then drove straight to Toronto for the Winter Fair. (H/J peeps did the same thing.)
Still, we are seeing some of the very, VERY best Saddlebreds around right now. From a spectator perspective I’m not sure I wouldn’t rather see four top ones than one top one and 15 fillers. (From a rider perspective, however, I’d be more than happy to go fill a class and be 5th out of 5! Somebody find me a FH horse or Hackney pony to lease!)

I am only able to get the feed to work in Chrome if I open it in an incognito window. I assume it’s one of my add-ins blocking something.

I am using Chrome on one computer and the picture is quite good. For some reason, it has taken the notion to do some light buffering which is annoying.
On my outdated version of Firefox on a different compter, I get no buffering but a cloudier version on Fullscreen. I am trying to figure out how to breed the two,
I am unable to get it to load tonight after having it work most of the day. I am using Chrome
I really like Double O’Deuce— he’s the chromy chestnut…

Have you tried refreshing when it won’t load?
LOL of course, right after I wrote that comment, it began working

Good. It was a little slow for me tonight but the picture is very good. I do hate the buffering.
Stupid question time. What is an incognito window?

It will be tough since the NHS does not offer what is an expected full class offering for a national level Saddlebred show. Hard for anyone outside of the local area (granted there are many fabulous horses in the local area) to justify the drive when there are not the classes available that your customers are used to entering.
For comparison The Mane Event prize list http://www.midamericahorseshow.org/images/_13ManeEventPL.pdf and the American Royal prize list http://i.saffireevent.com/files.ashx?t=fg&f=4UPHA_Class_Descriptions.pdf&rid=AmericanRoyal The Royal has 20 different classes in the Five-Gaited division (not counting the Missouri-Kansas residents only classes, there’s 4 more there), and Mane Event has 13, whereas the NHS has 4.
The price of a stall is a little steep too for what I am used to seeing in the Saddlebred world ($300 for the NHS). The Royal is $130 for a stall, Mane Event is $125, the World’s Championship Horse Show is $150. Are stals always so expensive at hunter/jumper shows?
