Altech National Horse Show
Thanks for that- this worked!
Yeah, I had to disable my Ad Block Plus to get it to work.

Believe it or not Renae, that’s actually fairly reasonable for an “A” H/J show! I’d have expected it to be more, TBH. So yes, H/J stalls are always more expensive.
It will be tough since the NHS does not offer what is an expected full class offering for a national level Saddlebred show. Hard for anyone outside of the local area (granted there are many fabulous horses in the local area) to justify the drive when there are not the classes available that your customers are used to entering.

For comparison The Mane Event prize list http://www.midamericahorseshow.org/images/_13ManeEventPL.pdf and the American Royal prize list http://i.saffireevent.com/files.ashx?t=fg&f=4UPHA_Class_Descriptions.pdf&rid=AmericanRoyal The Royal has 20 different classes in the Five-Gaited division (not counting the Missouri-Kansas residents only classes, there’s 4 more there), and Mane Event has 13, whereas the NHS has 4.

The price of a stall is a little steep too for what I am used to seeing in the Saddlebred world ($300 for the NHS). The Royal is $130 for a stall, Mane Event is $125, the World’s Championship Horse Show is $150. Are stals always so expensive at hunter/jumper shows?
$300 sounds about right for an H/J show of that caliber I think we paid $100 for the local A shows. Hunter/Jumper land is all about paying lots of money.

Now I’m just getting ads?

Thanks for the insight. Just curious if this would turn into a mutually beneficial situation or not. It sounds like a cool idea to combine disciplines, but I would imagine it would be hard to appeal to both crowds and make it worth the trip for everyone.

Live feed is working fine for me now. Using Firefox, and had to go to Tools on the menu bar, select Ad Blocker Plus and then choose Disable.

I’ve got to be honest, if the ASBs were not there, I probably would not drive 7 hours to spectate. For me it’s the combination of the two that makes the NHS worth it as a destination vacation. I enjoy both disciplines and it’s the chance to see the best of the best from each that gets me in the car. One discipline or the other would be kinda “been there done that” for me. I like having different kinds of food on my plate at once!

Is something happening on the feed right now? All I see is ad after ad after ad…

Ads are what we are getting now.

I believe it’s the course walk. First horse is at 9pm.

I got a steady stream of ads for a few minutes before the feed switched to the course walk. Now there are ads and more ads. First horse is supposed to be on course at 8pm EST, which is seven minutes from now. Maybe they are running ads until that time.

Looking at your prize list there is no mention of prize money. At The National this week if you are 8th in one pro class with 8 horses in it you already made your stall money back. They give away huge sums of money in the hunter classes at this show. Its gotta come from somewhere!

Another reason why it won’t be feasible is due to all the course changes and jumps that are required for the H/J’s and the lack of jumps required to effectively and safely show harness and rail classes. Those jump crews would be flipping out…so I think that’s another issue that would prohibit a full fledged Saddlebred and Hackney show from taking place in the same venue. It could work as it does at Devon becuase of multi and designated rings.

Yeah exactly! I was thinking that. The jump crew seems to have a huge job at this show. Would be maddening if it were even more complex

Aaaagggghhhh! Could the camera person please let us look at the jumps instead of the two gentlemen telling us about the jumps???

Voila! I finally have a feed, and it is very clear. Glad to see that our input got results. The jumps are certainly high enough tonight.

This course seems to ride nicely.

You ought to come to the Germantown Charity Horse Show in TN they’ve got hunter and jumper night classes and saddlebreds after. Some nights they’ve also got dressage demos and reiners.

I saw that last night and mentioned it…in one of the classes it was $1500.00 and in the Hackney class it was $750.00.

That show has been on my bucket list for decades! The last couple years it has conflicted with other shows for me but since I’m horseless this year, you never know!
