Am I the only one having problems with this site locking up on me?

Any updates?
I use Chrome on a PC & the problem is getting a little worse every day. Any other sites accessed do NOT have issues.
On my Android phone the BB works just dandy & that is using Chrome as well.

Have you tried any of this?

@Simkie I scanned that link & it seems that the problem is not the same - users reported problems with ALL pages & Apps not just a single site.
Any other place I surf is behaving normally for me, just COTH locks up,
Getting to the point where I may return to {ugh} Equisearch or come other BB for my Horsepeople Fix

I am also experiencing lock ups. I believe it is related to one or more of the ads. I have not kept track of which ads are present after a lock up.

For two recent lock ups my page was stuck on:

“Waiting for googleads4.g.doubleclick.net…”
then "Processing request… "

and
“Waiting for securepubads.g.doubleclick.net…”

The page becomes unresponsive and takes a couple of minutes to wake up to even scroll on the page.

It was getting worse and worse on Chrome. I logged in on Explorer and I am not having problems at all so far.

Have you guys tried an Adblocker? Fanfayre reported that worked for her.

And really–that’s diagnostic! The more people who say that, the clearer it is that the ads are somehow the problem. Reports like yours will help fix whatever is wrong

My computer geek brother says McAfee can cause problems and advised me against using it. He said Avg free is better, t.

I use AVG and have problems every single day.

Most commonly it hangs while “Waiting for securepubads.g.doubleclick.net…”

I’m going to start tracking if it’s always this, or if there are others, but least that is far and away the most common.

This never happens the first time into the site. But it might happen after viewing 1 thread or 10, maybe after making 1 post or 10, or none. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern with those things. Just the ads, and at least almost always that one.

I know for a fact that other sites utilize that ad source, so it’s clearly related to how the COTH sofware interacts with them. I never, ever have problems with any other site, even when COTH is hung.

Chrome, FF doesn’t matter. I don’t use IE on this computer, and this is the only computer (Dell all-in-one) I use for COTH.

However, this issue is absolutely unique to COTH, because the ads I see here also show up on other web sites I visit and I only have problems here.

Edited to add that I have been zipping around the forum for the past 15-20 minutes and have experienced no problems at all. I’m also not seeing any ads in the sidebar other than links to COTH itself.

Which brings up another question - if the forum is supposed to be ad-supported, what are the implications of so many of us using ad blocking apps?

I came back to write this EXACT post.

AdBlock Plus, no problems since, I have been watching like a hawk and the securepubads.g.doubleclick.net never shows up.

Neither do any of the non-COTH ads.

I have resisted ALL adblockers ever since they came out. Yes, some ad campaigns are annoying, but I also get that it’s business, sometimes small personal businesses, and while I am not one to go willy nilly clicking on every ad that looks like fun, I DO end up clicking on some of them when they are consistently appearing and it’s something I’ve been interested in (umm, cookies). I mean, I really don’t mind seeing Title Nine ads :winkgrin:

So it really is in COTH’s best interest to figure this out, and soon. I’d have no problem turning off the ad blocker if this is resolved.
