Andrew McConnon horse abuse

Make sure to tell her that this one seems as if it runs VERY deep…

Might it be this one that turns the whole thing on its head?

I’m so far behind but this is exactly what I am thinking. Mr. McConnon is well aware his son is short-tempered and is a bully with a mean streak. It is even possible that the son learned those traits from his father - look at how McConnon Senior has tried to bully people on this thread into shutting up and/or revealing their identities. And I am getting the sense that Senior has coddled his son all along by making excuses for his bad behavior and trying to protect him from possible consequences of said bad behavior.

I gotta be honest… given the glowing puff pieces they have written about him in the past, I’m inclined to go elsewhere for serious reporting about this.

Someone said earlier that Nancy Jaffer was working on an article. Hopefully COTH is as well.

It may well be Andrew or his partner trying to suss out real names for potential lawsuits or back-channel communications. Or just a troll stirring the pot (‘he’ll call his mother and I if he needs us’) yet here ‘he’ is in the middle of the night riding herd on Andrew McConnon’s disaster.

do not pee on my foot and tell me it’s raining, pops

The statements by USEA and USEF are confusing. USEA found out “On the evening of Saturday, September 7, 2024” and USEF at the “beginning of summer”. Did USEF not tell USEA? Is this unusual?

Still waiting for a statement…. as per article he’s going to give one when he gets back to the US. Probably getting a lawyer or PR office.

The grant is decided by a committee, which Bobby Costello is not a member of.

I have no idea what Bobby knew or didn’t know, just pointing out that he did not award the grant.

So Dad’s response seems to be along the lines of:
–There’s no proof he did that thing!
–How do you know it was him?
–OK, so there’s a video of it, but it’s really not a bad thing!
.
sheesh.

That’s a thorough report from COTH.

Here’s my issue…

USEF claimed they received an anonymous report early in the summer.

Per the COTH article:

A former groom who worked for McConnon over a period of years said Monday that she and two other former employees reported him to both the Fédération Equestre Internationale and U.S. Equestrian Federation in May. In making their report, they provided the FEI with materials including videos and photographic evidence of what they felt was abusive behavior on the part of the rider.

This is not exactly squaring up.

What? This was not the horse in the video.

Come on.

They sent the report in months ago and he was still allowed to go represent the US at Burghley? I would think based on how recognizable he is in the video to those that know him, they could have preliminarily suspended him whilst investigating. They had the evidence according to that COTH article.

I do understand due diligence, not jumping the gun to not falsely accuse someone but come on! His own staff reported him! How could it take THIS long to investigate?

I must be reading this all wrong.

With all due respect - Wakita is not the horse in the video, and if you are not directly related to anyone immediately involved, you should not be raising any type of funds over this, honestly.

Yes I know that, but if he knew about this he could have told the selection committee I’m sure? Or mention it to the president of USEA Rob Burk?

WTH? Not the horse in the video. The horse is at home with owner and receiving excellent loving care at a beautiful facility. You might want to read the thread.

ETA: That GFM almost sounds like a scam. Many rescues are \suspect. This makes yours look bad.

It, to me, feels like a simple terminology difference. May to some might be described as early summer.

Would Andrew’s significant other, the (as far as I know) unnamed vet have any culpability?

Meanwhile the Charlotte scandal happens mid summer right before the Olympics, and immediately following that, upper level riders in multiple disciplines proceeded to voice thoughts on social media about the importance of being cognizant of the social license to operate.

Oh boy. If only they knew that their own federation was sitting idly by on top of a really ugly time bomb doing nothing about it. Yikes.
