I’m convinced the smaller they are, the bigger they think they are. He’s adorable, tho.
Same with men!
Elmo would never! There’s GRASS out there. He’s STARVING, clearly. I found Bo this AM with two gate handles unhooked. I put them back, fed him. Came out about 2 hours later…same two unhooked.
Today we introduced a proper lunging cavesson and a bit, which he took very willingly. He seemed pleased to have a “job”, even if it was mostly walking around in big circles.
Ruh-Roh…
You may need to padlock those gate handles
How cool Bo likes being “in work”.
He’s going to show you what he knows
We can see it even in the pics! He seems so proud of himself. I bet he ends up being a fantastic horse when he gets healthy. Who knows, he may turn out to have all kinds of bells and whistles.
Look at that good boy!
Likely he wants to come in the house with you is why he’s unhooking his gap handles
I can’t see the video.
He looks wonderful! Getting into mischief is a good sign.
Elmo is a horse in a pony/corgi body. I’m sure he and Bo will tag team and give you some grey hairs with their shenanigans. Would he play with a jolly ball?
I haven’t been up to date on all the posts on Bo, but wondered if your vet suggested rice bran as a good addition to what you are feeding. I’ve found horses love it and will eat other feeds that are mixed with it.
Try Chrome for the video
I have one hanging in the ponies’ area, they ignore it I could give it to Bo but I feel like his shenanigans are only motivated by a desire for freedom
@sparkygrace vet was almost useless on feeding guidance, told me to switch him to Nutrena ProForce Senior, 2 scoops 2x a day. No other info. He gets Renew Gold as a top dress (which does have rice bran in it) to his beloved Purina Senior, he tolerates it in limited quantities. I haven’t tried straight RB.
If it still isn’t working, let me know and I can upload it to YouTube.
He seems to have a little more spark in his eyes than he did.
Try straight rice bran. Horses like the flavor. All of my devour it.
Need to add: if you feed rice bran, be sure to balance it with calcium. You can look up the correct ratio. I feed rice bran with alfalfa pellets, which provide calcium. Rice bran also help neutralize stomach acid, so may help with ulcers.
He won’t eat those either. Or any other hay pellet or cube, and a long list of things that are supposed to be good for him that lots of horses love. He’s the pickiest horse I’ve ever known.
He is picky! My horses would run me over to get their rice bran/alfalfa slop. You could check the calcium in his current feed and give him a small amount of rice bran.
He’s looking so good! Where did you get that lunge cavesson? The only ones I ever see are the big ungainly ones with a big heavy nose piece.
I wish I could like this so many more times than just once.
