So, this is going to be a regular occurrence I guess  I don’t know where he thinks he’s going to go? I can’t feed him any more or more frequently, he’s maxed out on the senior and won’t eat hay pellets or any other forage-substitute that might keep him busy in between meals. He does graze sometimes (plenty of grass IN his pasture), but doesn’t actually get much of it swallowed.

Maybe to hang out with the ponies? I could try putting Elmo in with him for a few hours here and there, but Elmo is a food pig so he’d have to be taken away at every meal. Or I could switch Bo and Fern, either permanently or just for the daytime.

I’m off to buy another solar charger today :rofl:

I think he’s just making the point that he COULD escape if he wanted to!:rofl::rofl:

I briefly boarded a Tennessee Walker years ago who made it a point to get up on the broad stone walls with all four feet, just to prove he could. He looked like an elephant balanced on a tub.

I had to tell his owner that he needed a barn with post and rail fencing after the first couple of times.

So I won’t say they are best buds, more like somewhat indifferent acquaintances :joy: but I’m hoping Bo will tag along behind Elmo while he grazes.

I switched the charger over to this pasture for now, there will be no shenanigans while I’m out spending $$$ on them.

Bo thinks he’s smart opening his fence gap lol. I hope he enjoys having a pal while you are out shopping for him!

I’m not convinced it’s him yet. Innocent until proven guilty. No body, no crime.

:joy: (You are the most patient soul to put up with him and us)

Has he gone off of the chopped forage? For some reason I thought that was Bo-approved?

What an amazing difference 1 month makes. He looks wonderful, sound and spunky and very naughty but that is a good thing!

It was somewhat approved - he can only eat the powdery part, not the actual chopped hay pieces, but after a couple days it seemed to be irritating his airways so I scrapped it. I’ve also tried giving him just the shaken out leaves from my premium alfalfa bales and he said meh. So, he just gets the senior + Renew Gold 4x a day. He does get some grass ingested from grazing, but not a ton.

Anything he doesn’t want to eat, he will throw. Even if I put the food in the empty 40gal trough, he will tip that over and dump it out if it makes him mad. He’s the rudest customer in my restaurant. He also dumped over both of his 15gal water tubs during the arctic blast last week, presumably because he felt there was too much ice.

Gotcha. Well whatever is working…is working.

A  for you for taking him on and sharing his journey with all of us critics. I look forward to his Monday updates!

I am happy to have COTH to share it with. My DH likes the horses but isn’t nearly as excited about weight gain and doesn’t have a clue what a nice mover is. I do post the occasional update on FB, but I try to dumb it down for the non-horsey friends/fam and nobody wants to discuss rocks in poop or see pics of his butt (and it’s diminishing thigh gap). :joy:

His table flipping is good spirit; it’s frustrating but I always tell myself it’s a sign of intelligence. (to comfort myself perhaps). He’s got some juice in there and physically his body was ready to come right back it seems.

I can only imagine the look on your face when you saw him move so fancy? Could the horse goddesses have granted you a mega wish and you are going to end up with a Ferrari??? We all hope so and thanks for the pictures and video!

I love that you have a red pony named Elmo

Did you already learn he won’t tolerate oil? I’ve been using Platinum Performance Healthy Weight and my horse thinks it is delicious.

He’s a cheeky boy  He’s essentially a horse with short legs, 14.1 and 1100lb, although I’m pretty sure he’s at least 17h in his own mind.

@PaddockWood I saw it the second day he was here, definitely had a little moment of ooh…look at that!

@starsandsun I have not tried to add any oils yet.

All ponies think that! My trainer used to have pony that bossed ALL the horses around (as in, they didn’t even pass him coming in from turnout) with all of his 9.2 hands of self.

As do small dogs!
