“Hmmm… I see how to start that thing up now. If I watch carefully I can learn how to drive it.”
It does happen to be orange, although that was DH’s choice. I just drive the thing (a lot…). As soon as the ground dries again need to mow about 6 overdue acres and then get more fence put up!
Mid-morning siesta…
A little Monday Bo on the lunge line for today. He was not feeling particularly energetic, but then this is a lot more work than carting me around on scenic tours.
He’s coming out a little stiff at first these days - not lame, just… sewing machine-y. I think he needs to move back to a bigger field where he can/has to move more, and maybe we need some joint support on board. He and Elmo spend a lot of time just hanging out together next to the fence, which is nice for the social aspect, but doesn’t really promote movement.
Also, I hopped on Cooper for the first time after I rode Elmo. He’s ‘basic broke’… kick-go/pull-stop. Steers like a land yacht and would prefer to drift back over to his friends (or reverse to them, if drifting doesn’t work). Not a bad kid though, just needs some education and refinement and I think he’ll be a real contender. I have some video of that ride as well, but no time right now to cut things together. Maybe later!
I am getting a good work out now, three horses in work plus an upcoming youngster to start
It really goes to show HOW FAR under he was!
Damn! He looks so good! The stiffness makes sense if he’s just standing around with his buddy.
Thanks for the YouTube videos, your other videos took forever to load on my laptop, so I’m really enjoying these.
This is the battle I face right at this very moment, and I swear I’m gonna’ win this battle. She is going to start getting dry kibble again. No more of this Friskies pate that you love so much before. Hedwig, if you want the good food, you need to actually freaking eat it.
I have thought the same thing about Velvet.
Unfortunately, this week she is not eating the Purina Gentle dry food I ordered specifically because she stopped eating the Royal Canin she’d liked previously.
The only canned food she is eating consistently this week is Fancy Feast, which I had stopped buying because she threw it up a few times previously.
The only dry “food” she will eat right now is Temptations Treats.
Any chance he wouldn’t notice a Previcox in his food?
I think the socializing is good for him, and it’s certainly easier for me to feed him 4x a day with him in that spot right next to the hay shed, BUT he pretty much stands with Elmo or stands/naps out in the paddock. When he was in the bigger pasture that has a lot more grass and sloping hills, he did a lot more walking around. I need to get more t-posts this week and get to work on more pastures (ugh, fencing).
Thanks to the poster who suggested Bo get his own Youtube channel! Makes it so much easier to upload his videos, especially the longer ones. Plus I actually enjoy playing around a bit with the editing in subtitles and adding music (when I have time ).
@starsandsun I think he would be suspicious. Plus he drops a lot of food. I used to hide Webster’s in the middle of half of a German Horse Muffin, just for this reason…
I’ll be subscribing to that channel!
They play MUCH faster without having to buffer too!
If y’all could tell Bo that his waning appetite is stressing me out and to knock it off, I’d be grateful. Today it’s quite warm (91, with a “feels like” of 101) and he’s just been picking at things, although his appetite has been up and down the last few weeks. He keeps asking for alfalfa. I keep telling him NO, he has not even finished his lunch grain and barely touched his midday tub of wet cubes. He’s sort of picking at things here and there, but Bo, you’re a Texas horse and you know this isn’t even “hot” yet. Plus, when I have to leave your food out for hours the flies are unbearable.
As you all know, we don’t have a ton of fat to spare on this boy. He needs to eat!
Cooper is also acting off this late afternoon, not sure what’s going on yet. Hopefully he’s just a little hot. Somehow, my ponies-from-the-PNW are just trucking right along though…a little sweaty, but good appetites and thirst.
Come on Bo! Stop worrying your mom.
Are they both sweating ok? I’ve got two that don’t sweat as much as they should unless they’re on One AC. They get droopy in the heat without it.
Everyone was sweating to some degree, a little damp around the edges.
I know this is Bo’s thread, but if y’all could jingle your janglies for his buddy Cooper - I just left him at the hospital with what they believe is a small colon impaction. His bloodwork, ultrasound, reflux tube, vitals, etc. all looked good but the rectal revealed the possible impaction. So we’re jingling for poop again.
Jingling for Cooper. I wondered why you were up in the middle of the night. Jingling for Bo too, and you.
curb chains jingling
Jingles for you and Cooper.
Jingles for Cooper and for Bo’s appetite to come back.
Oh, jeepers. C’mon 'Cooper! Hang in there, buddy. Maybe his body didn’t know what to do with decent care?
