A lot of people love that Unbeetable! You will still need to add something for vitamin/mineral and protein. A ration balancer at 1 pound a day could work fine. They’re expensive per bag, but you feed only 1 to 2 pounds do the cost per day is pretty low. I think Purina makes one for seniors? ProElite is another good one.
Is your thought that with the grain and unbeetable I still need the balancer? Or the balancer is needed if I am only doing one or the other? i am experimenting with feed xl and their nutrient balance recommendation but its not the most user friendly.
Yes. Unbeetable is not fortified in any way. I think it even says on the bag to add ration balancer.

Monthly Bo update!
I am terrible and left my phone in the truck while I was there. So all you get is this one crappy far away photo of him looking sleepy as I was driving out and realized I hadn’t taken a single picture:
He’s happy. Still on the thinner side, I wouldn’t like to see him drop any more but we’ll keep a close eye on it. They have been riding him some, just walks, and he’s been an angel. His donkey still love him. The dentist will be out this week to check on his remaining teeth.

And somehow I managed to find him the one-in-a-million lessee! She really loves him, and I enjoy getting to go visit the both of them every month.
I’d like to think so, although he’s a businesslike guy so there’s no real displays of excitement 
He did check me for cookies though.
