Miss Sakamoto is running at Monmouth on Saturday, Race #7.
Looking forward to seeing how she does (in person) after the switch over to Kent Sweezey.
Hero Status is at Silver Springs for some R&R, during which time he will also have brain surgery.
So many are in an uproar about it
Many are claiming he didnāt do well under Diodoro care because he missed the people in Galttās barn
I am so glad I am not on that FB page.
I keep waiting to see the same announcement regarding Chasing Time. Do people not realize that gelding these horses will set them up better for a second career once theyāre off the track?
They already gelded Tap the Gavel.
same. or any FB group for that matter hahaha.
Re: gelding - I guess that most of the owners are not riders or horsemen. They just want to say they own a race winner. I wonder how many actually think about retirement or after-care. But Iām also absolutely gobsmacked when people (particularly men) refuse to neuter their pets in testicular solidarity .
I actually think that one thing this really neat about MRH is the educational component. They did a good job explaining the reasons behind gelding, the importance of rest periods etc. Its not much, but it is certainly more than the average layman gets.
I am so bummed. We bought tickets to the MRH hospitality box and we won the paddock/winners circle lottery for Miss Sakamotoās race today.
Then last night in my lesson, while working on bending while walking my horse spooked, bucked himself across the ring and when he got to the fence line went right while I went left. I have a fractured pelvis, maybe patella (they could not really tell but I donāt think itās broken) and Iām finding contusions this morning I did not know I had.
Darn horse! Guess Iāll be watching from the comfort (cough cough) of my living room.
Oh no! Jingles for a speedy recovery!
Oh thank you so much!
Turns out, it was raining a fair bit at Monmouth this morning so they scratched her.
Oh wow that sounds so painful! Jingles that you arenāt laid up for too long.
I have Cumberland Falls running there as well.
Guess weāll see how she likes a wet track.
