Another Way to buy itty bitty shares in a horse!

Ya, ya… It’s just a (extremely) small smidgeon  but it’s enough to say you are part of it.
How freaking cool!!
Puca’s 2024 colt by Good Magic is up in the buy page.
Here’s hoping he’s as good (or better) than her previous foals :slightly_smiling_face:

Caldera will be heading to the farm for a few weeks of R&R & will also get a thorough check up from Dr Bramlage.
Plan is to have him back in training & gearing up for mid-summer racing.

Munny Problem had his first (easy) work since arriving at CD. Lukas really likes him!

Native Brew continues to train well since arriving at Keenland. Sounds like his debut may not be that far away.

Here’s The Kicker will come out of post 5 in the Ruffian S. on Saturday.

Moonlight Courage gets a slight class break in race 9, pp 7 on Saturday at SA. Mainly because it’s the only race available for a while. She is NOT in for a tag.

Oh man. I have never really consider MRH as I’ve always wanted to own (bigger) small shares of a racehorse so we could be much more involved and “official” in ownership, but since casual friend Bruce Headley passed I wouldn’t know where to start (I know his kids Karen and Gus are training a few, but, eh). MRH looks pretty simple and it’d be easier to buy several shares with the click of a button than try to go about this the old fashioned way.

The Puca colt has my attention for all the obvious reasons, though Chad Brown gives me pause (I want to say at least he’s not Baffert or Lukas, but is his behind the scenes rep much better? I don’t know). Plus, living 20 minutes from Santa Anita makes a FL/NY horse pretty inaccessible. There is a California-based colt by Yaupon offered trained by Mark Glatt, but I’ve never heard of him. Anyone have the scoop on him? Which (or both) horses’ connections are more MRH-involved?

There are other options, if looking to be more involved than just a microshare owner.
Edge Racing (an off shoot of MRH) offers syndicated shares. Granted the buy in is a lot higher & you also have monthly or quarterly expenses.
I think Commonwealth also does larger syndication shares.
Victory Raving is another that offers syndicate shares, last I looked it was a minimum $10k per share.
MRH just launched their own syndicate share platform, run similar to their microshare platform.
It’s a one time buy-in price, no extra fees, with more features & experiences. They sold for $1200/share for the horse they just sold out on. They are planning on offering more through this platform.

Excited to go watch Here’s the Kicker run in the G2 Ruffian Stakes tomorrow at Aqueduct!

Looking forward to HTK’s race as well.
She’ll definitely need to take a BIG step forward, but I think it’s within her wheelhouse.

Puca ’24 is sold out.

Chasing Time is entered in a $40k claiming race on Sunday 5/18. I am not on FB anymore so don’t have visibility into that page, but I gather that MRH shareholders are having fits of outrage. MRH sent a blast email addressing their reasons for opting for a claiming race.

I’m also mystified as to why he’s still entire. They’ve said several times that he’s easy to handle, not studdish at all, but there’s no reason for him to keep his equipment. He’s not even regional stallion material. That’s not a knock on him - most male horses don’t make the cut (pun not originally intended, but I never could resist low hanging fruit…heh :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:).

Thats one reason why I, so far, have resisted the temptation to get involved with micro shares. No say in management decisions (nor should huge micro share ownership groups expect to be involved) do not know if I could stand that…and I have not been overly controlling as an owner of any horse up to a point. Not having a voice in trainer selection or major management decisions like gelding or career choices is past that point.

Have toyed with the idea of getting involved in limited partnerships requiring continuing financial contribution but decided to enjoy some cruises and major sporting events put off for decades due to horse responsibilities. Will enjoy racing as an informed fan and spectator.

I emailed MRH and said that since he had been so good to us owners, could there be another plan, other than a claiming race. To my amazement, I received a reply. Essentially, he is going to a claiming race, but they hope he won’t be claimed. If in the future he seems to be a total loser (my words, not theirs), they might consider a second career.
I suggested trying to get him to be an eventer–seems sound, pretty good mover.
Of course if he is claimed, bye-bye CT.

That was the gist of the email they sent to all fractional shareholders. They’re having a difficult time finding races at a distance that suits him AND that he’s eligible to enter.

He has a very nice canter, definitely. MRH does follow horses they’ve had claimed away from them and in at least one instance they’ve claimed the horse back specifically to retire him.

Chasing Time ran third, was claimed, now will be racing for Linda Rice.

I’d be interested to know what the issue was with claim by Carlos for it to be denied.
Of course the gossips are out in full force over it.

I’m sure the FB group is in a tizzy. I too wondered about the voided claim, thinking it must have something to do with payment.

Upcoming MRH races.

Horses running for a tag…

Intellectual $50K
Miss American Pie $30K
Sweet Voyage $30K

Isn’t she really good at picking the right races for them? Even dropping them? That might be a good thing for him, get some confidence back? What they were doing was not working. IMO.

Guess MRH is cleaning house.

2 of the 3 are owned in partnership with Reeves (I believe Reeves wants out from under these 2) & the other is owned in partnership with Owlcataz Racing

I’m very doubtful either Intellectual or Sweet Voyage get claimed.
However, I have a feeling MAP will get snatched up.
