Most of you probably know this, but in case there are others who don’t, getting a horse’s race record and pedigree is free, and easy, as long as you have the correct spelling of the registered name.
Go to equibase.com and enter the horse on the search line near the top. All of the results are there, if the races are fairly recent the charts of those races, and also any history of a horse being sold through a Thoroughbred sale.
I definitely know the registered names of mine, 'cause I bred most of them. The two I did not breed:
Bubuzela 2010 bay mare (Rockport Harbor - Maemy x Punk(ARG))
M G Baby 2011 bay mare (Pleasant Colony - Reen x Forestry)
I bought those two mares several years apart, and thousands of miles apart. I was startled to find that they had actually raced against each other in Bubuzela’s first start!
