I thought someone had emailed this thread to Karen aka Dr Wimbush… If so who knows if she actually read it…

Oh I didnt realize you had gone to ATI… if mentioned somewhere before sorry I missed it…
I went there a butt load ago when they still had a standardbred training/racing program…

Anyway I suprised karen would let her back in… she usually doesnt allow that( except for injury) unless she has mellowed in the last decade n half…[/QUOTE]

Dont know all the details, a few yrs back, but apparently she had an “accident” at ATI when turning a horse out in the field. wasn’t a horse she was responsible for, She was just trying to be “helpful” ( in other words, she was a know-it-all and did something she wasn’t suppose to). She was life-flighted out because she sustained a head injury (suprise:winkgrin:). Stayed overnight and was released. Could be why she got back in…

If anyone is counting, she is up to 15 horses on equinenow.com.

on equinenow.com if you click on “Help” there is a section on Internet Fraud that includes a link where it can be reported…

I just got a horse from her and am still having problems. He was way under weight. I still don’t know why I took him except that I FELT SORRY FOR HIM. B said he was 12 but he is a TB and has a tatoo. He was 15, but actually out of the Cryptoclearence line. She had pictures of him from a year or so ago and a video of him. His name is Shine. I still have not been on him, but soon. He seems sound so far. I got a horse from her this spring who had “winter pads” on. It was my fault to not check him out better, but they were wedges. He does not have navicular changes, but does not grow heals and is dead lame with out the pads. He was sold as kid safe and is quite the opposit. I purcsased him for my 12 year old cousin to ride. Big mistake. I like him, but he is way to much horse for a kid. Does anyone have any past details on him was called Hunter and I was told he was a warmblood 8 or 9 years old. Both of these horses were purchase because she said they were child safe and sound. How can she do this and feel ok with herself.

update[/U] Shine is putting on a bunch of weight. B must not have been feeding him at all. He still seems sound and has been good, but I am waiting to see what is wrong with him. Hunter or Halo is lame again more xrays and issues.

Keep on Riding

Welcome to the club, dear. If you found one or both horses posted online, I would recommend strongly that you contact the particular website administrator and report the deceptive advertising regarding her representations that the horse(s) were kid-safe. She has been banned from Dreamhorse, and these other websites should get a clue and ban her from their sites as well.

If for some reason you decide to return one or both horses to her, please call the Coshocton County Sheriff ahead of time and arrange for a sheriff to be at B’s parents’ farm before you arrive. And if you somehow got suckered into an ‘adoption contract’ that requires you to send money and photographs on a regular basis for the rest of your life (note: it really is the rest of your life, not the horse’s life), get used to the harrassment and drama, or return the horse(s) now. Be aware that your horse with the possible navicular will likely die of neglect within a couple of months of his return to B, unless some other sucker steps in and rescues him from B (again). Do know that she has a history of flipping the same horses over and over again to new and different unsuspecting victims.

With regard to your question about how she can continue to do this and feel ok with herself, the answer is that she continues to do this because she can. Schtoops like you and me who give a damn about the horses continue to show up and rescue them from that compound in Warsaw, OH because we feel compelled to give them a better chance at a good life. She on the other hand continues to rake in the cash, because we are in fact suckers (or alternatively, ‘disgruntaled’ customers).

In the end, I think she continues to ‘sell’ these horses because what she really wants is a friend/buddy. I really truly believe she doesn’t have any friends, and peddling horses to ‘forever homes’ is the only way she can force someone to keep in touch with her.

What’s the description on the other “kid safe” horse you purchased for your cousin? I think the wedge pads setup is one of those things she may apply liberally without much knowledge to the whys and hows… So many of the horses she moves (sells…adopts…) were given to her for retirement due to some physical or neurological limitation. Unfortunately it’s sometimes subtle and not obvious until you “live” with the horse a while. No true horseman or anyone who had any regard for people’s safety could do what she does.
It would be great to get the word out to those who have unknowingly trusted her with their horse only to have her “recycle” the horse for profit …like our friend Mandy–if we could only find her horses and pony! Perhaps we could get folks reconnected to their horses who they thought they left in good care…
SHAME on you Britney!

All she sees is $$$$$$, proof that it is the root of all evil…

Sad State of Affairs

It’s really sad to see how the horse community has suffered in these difficult economic times. More people are having problems making ends meet and caring for their horses. This leaves innocent people open for being taken advantage of by dishonest horse people like the one being described in this chain. Having been a horse person all my life and a breeder for the last 15 years I have been very fortunate to have had positive experiences with my purchases and selling of my horses. There are more horses on the market now than ever and at affordable prices. But as we all know the purchase price is usually the cheapest. It’s the training, vet work, show fees, and care that cost the most. My recommendations for buyiny, leasing, or adopting a new horse:

  1. if the seller is honest and have the horses and your interests at heart they will let you come try the horse out at their facility for a given/reasonable period of time in order to ensure that you and the horse suit each other;
  2. a good seller will coordinate with you and your vet to have a prepurchase exam performed at the seller’s facility prior to any money or papers changing hands (this is money well spent and can help you avoid getting a horse than will not be able to meet your needs);
  3. If it sounds too good then it probably is too good to be true. There are lots of cheap horses out there but typically the type of experienced horse this seller is advertising will not be this cheap;
  4. before you even go to see the horse check with others in the industry to see if the seller has a good reputation;
  5. call the veterinarian in the seller’s own town and get a reference on them;
  6. If you choose to insure the horse you purchase always get major medical with mortality. If the horse is severely injured the insurance company will require you to spend and spend and spend more to save your horse. This spending may be more than you can afford. So pay a little more for the policy and let them foot the bill should anything awful happen.
  7. No good seller will rush you. An honest horse person would want you to feel comfortable with you decision.
  8. I always recommend leasing a horse before you purchase it. This gives you a chance to see if you and the horse are a good fit (Of course, you need to insure any horse you lease).

I hope you all put a stop to this woman’s devious methods. She makes all of us in the horse community look bad.

More horses for “sale”

Is this a horse from that same person?? Can anyone tell me what emails she goes from? Please PM!

Nick

Hey lookie! Nick is (still) posted with an ‘oner’ in college. Full time. Apparently English is not her major. Price went from $15,000 to $1. Must be the economy? :yes:

Deltara Dolly is still listed for $3500 but a required “breeding lease” of 12-18 months is required before adoption… WTF?

Too nice a mare. I’d love to just buy her outright.

What exactly is a breeding lease? Do you breed the mare to an “approved by Britney” stallion, pay her a monthly fee for you to feed, vet, etc. the mare and at the end of 18 months you just turn her back over to B? Is this to get the fantastic/superior/gorgeous/perfect/ bloodline? Do you keep the product of all this for no additional cost or is that ultimately property of B also? If things “don’t work out” and your situation is not “perfect” like she thinks it should be can she reposess it too? I’m tellin’ ya, I am definitely in the wrong business! She is raking in money IRS free and apparently untouchable by the local authorities/ AGO. Definitely something to think about…would be a nice hobby. I do love horses…

OK so here’s what I THINK she means by breeding lease. She lets you decide the stallion (but of course can deny it if she thinks its not good enough) and then you pay the monthly fee for the breeding contract aka the foal, but once the foal is done then you adopt the mare. Now the part she didn’t mention was how much to adopt the mare for. That is where people will get confused. So to sum it up: $ for use of mare, $ for foal and then $ for mare. This is my understanding. However I have been known to be wrong before…hope everyone is doing well!!

Sugar Creek victims

I am so sorry to report this, for those of you who have “donated” horses to this individual, this will break your heart. I finally have confirmation that when she can’t move them, she hauls them to Sugar Creek for sale to the killer man and they get hauled off for slaughter. Took 4 horses over there last June. Truly an individual with no conscience. So much for a “forever” home…:mad:

Sugar Creek victims

I am not surprised by this. She has to be dumping some somewhere, and taking whatever cash she can get. To euth them would COST her:eek:

Wow-absolutely Wow! She torments all these other people about the treatment of “her” horses, and then sells to Sugarcreek!!!:mad:

it makes me very sad to read this about brit, but like many others im not one bit surprised. im sure that’s where my 2 horses and pony ended up. im going to e-mail her today and ask for an update on my pony. i cant take not knowing. it makes me sad…i feel like i doomed them to death by sending them there and all i was trying to do was give them a better life in their old age then i could give them and look what i did…probably caused the rest of their however short lives pain and suffering and all the while im sure they were there wondering why they were there and why i wasn’t around. i cant even think about it, it makes me sick. i wish brit would just be shut down or something, there is no reason why she should be allowed to get away with things like this. im to the point now where i don’t even care if she reads the mean hateful things i say and think of her…she don’t deserve to even breath the air on this earth and she should be locked in a tiny room and beaten for every horse she ever took in. i have given up hope on finding my pony buddy, he would be round 33 now and probably passed away and my girls im sure prob got sent off the the sale barn for meat…i hope someday she feels the sorrow she has caused me and so many other people…i will NEVER forgive her and someday she will get whats coming to her b/c i believe in karma.

so this is the e-mail i just sent her…we shall see if it works and if she tells me the things i need to know…

im sure you don’t have him anymore and im sure he has passed away from old age, but i need to know Britney what happened to my pony, if u had him or what…you say you did and had or have pics of him on your farm, please please send me them via e-mail even if he isn’t still alive. i just want to know that he had a good life. and my mares i would like to know what happened to them after i left them, how long were they still alive and how did they pass…these are things i need to know so i can close the book on this and stop wondering and beating myself up over it, from one horse lover to another, PLEASE tell me these things !!
