Anyone buy? sell? adopt? from Brit Le'Brand Farm Warsaw Ohio?

Moderator

Moderator, I think the really sad thing is that all who have posted so far are telling the truth from our own personal interactions and “business dealings” with this dingbat. Thank you for providing the forum to allow us all to vent about our individual experiences with this person, and to provide a warning to others to be extremely cautious about doing business with this girl.

Coshocton Co Sherriff Dept Morning Report

On the Sheriff’s Morning report for August 20th, 2008
“August 19th at 1:03 pm Bianca Petvow of Anderson SC, reported that a Warsaw women mis-represented a horse that she purchased over the internet”

can be view at coshoctonsheriff.com

Is there any way of confirming who she is lodging her complaint against? If it is BLB and Britney, I wonder how or if that will have any impact on all of us…

Geez…looking at the people on here who’ve had dealings, you probably have enough for a class-action lawsuit against her. (Bearing in mind free Internet legal advice is worth what you pay for it.) And if the horses are arriving underweight and with medical problems, has anyone contacted the humane society or animal control?

here’s the sheriff’s info/website if you want to call and check. I’ll call tomorrow and update tomorrow night.

oops, forgot to include the link, sorry:

Thanks for staying on top of things! Keep your eyes out for a 7yr old grey TB to pop up on the classifieds. He is being returned to Britney tomorrow. He may be walk/trot sound but definitely not the high sport horse prospect she claimed him to be. Still underweight… I’m sure thats only going to get worse once he leaves my farm. His name is “It’s Awesome Baby” or so she claims. He has very distinguishable markings. Suture scar on left side of throat and a large knot across his head. His right eye appears to be more sunken in than his left. Also will not stand on his left fore with full weight for more than a few minutes. Watch out - I am sure he will be back on the market. Nice gelding but not a fancy show horse. Needs to be retired and loved. Pray for Awesome.

BLB Equine Rescue

We have an update, Britney/Brit Le’ Brand Farm is now doing business under another name, BLB Equine Rescue.

Has the “crossed sabres” thread inspired her?! OH NO!!! That is bad news…

One more thing

dogontired-thanks for keeping us up to date and aware. BTW I spoke to the detective and will be sending him all the paperwork that chronicles my journey with Britney and BLB…should make for interesting reading…

One nice thing for all of you is that the Sheriff’s office seems to be a real help.

It was nice of them to take the returned horse and take him off the trailer and return him. Please write a “good boy” or “attaboy” letter to the sheriff for that help. Too often cops/deputies only get negative attention, and here they could have said it was a “civil matter” and refused to help you.

I’ve only skimmed this thread, but it seems alot of posters are upset because this person requires a “forever home” for her horses and keeps control of the horse’s papers, so that the “adoptee” can’t sell them.

Is this such an unpopular idea? I thought most of the horse rescuse deals worked that way?

I have a WB mare that I’m ready to give away (Weltmeyer daughter , too – go figure), but I would ALWAYS keep my name on the papers as co-owner to protect her from being sold and “going down the road” over and over again.

Of course, the reason this horse is being GIVEN away is because she’s generally not good for anything but being a pasture pet or maybe light riding after surgery.

So if you guys are expecting horses for $1000 that are trained to show and are “Fancy” show horses, you are dreaming. Almost asking to be “taken.”

So what’s the major compliant on this gal? Is she just a flake?

[edit] I didnt expect a fancy show horse but I did expect a sound and healthy animal as described. Instead I recieved a 300lb underweight, skittish TB with front leg issues, a sunken in right eye and a large calcified lump on his forehead. Not the sound High sport horse prospect that was described to me. [She] even sends you pictures of when these horses looked good. When there are good rescues like New Vocations out there you come to expect that you get what you are sold. [edit]

Let’s give little thought as to how she had pictures of the horse you bought/adopted from her–when it looked good? How could she have that? Do they erode so quickly under her care? Or possibly, are they sent to her by people thinking she is offering them a “forever home” then they are advertised…paid for-sent out…returned…advertised…paid for sent out-returned… and perhaps photos sent to her are forwarded on to the original owner as if from her…all purely conjecture but one thing is certain:This gal certainly is “squirrelly”

So you didn’t go to look at the horse beforehand? Was she selling the horse as sound, trained and rideable?

Not to be insulting, but if someone told me that had such a horse under the age of 20 who was only $1000 I’d be REAL suspicious. Those horses rarely exisist. She must prey on those fairly new to horses.

It’s a shame, because it makes people who are honestly trying to find homes for “lower market” horses look dishonest.

Have you read the whole thread yet?

The person is acting as a rescue and people are under the impression they are getting a horse from a rescue.

And there are lots of good sound horses under the age of 20 that are pretty darn cheap right now.

Kyzteke

No good sound horses under 20 yrs and under 1000? I have 2 sound jumpers ages 4, 5, and a sound 1yr old all under 500… and I am not new to the horseworld… Jumpers are TB’s and the baby is a WB… there are good horses for less than thousands of dollars out there. You just have to be willing to put in some training.

You almost sound like you are defending Britney… you related?

Don’t be quick to over simplify what we all have been dealing with. Actually, my experience is more specifically related to lying and cheating–beyond the way the horse is described… From my experience: when shipping my horse to me I had received a quote of $850. She contacted me and said a shipper she had done business with would do it for $750. but had to be paid in advance. So, along with the horse payment I sent shipping. When the horse arrived I asked him for a receipt. Turns out Britney had asked him not to give me the receipt because the shipping was a “gift” Turns out the actual amount the shipper charged was $550. I had the $200. added to what we had agreed to pay out over 6 months. We were making monthly payments…1st month: She didn’t receive our check…sorry …don’t know where it went…have to charge you an extra $50. late fee. (and cost us to put a stop on the check) We then starting sending ALL correspondence to her confirmed delivery. Britney calls and says, “sorry my bank won’t cash the check. The manager told me to write void on it because your husband’s signature isn’t legible. Just send me a new check…but unfortunately, it will be late–so you’ll have to add a $50 late fee” ? Of course, only our own bank can refuse one of our checks based on signature! I called about 6 banks in Warsaw area they all confirmed that they could not do that…boy we paid her off immediately. She just lies. We had agreed to send “pictures” I nicely would send several with captions and sometimes in scrapbook fashion. Next thing she says as of now you must send 6 or more all this intermingled with threatening correspondence about sending the horse back. As stated in a former post, she then contacts me and says she’s purchased my horse’s registration papers from his breeder–I can purchase them from her for $1500…
She’s enough to wear you out and make you run to the nearest lawyer.
As with most of us, I got involved really believing her only concern was that the horse would be well cared for…not so…
It’s my prayer that she turns her life around and yields to God’s Good Intentions for her…Imagine if she put as much effort into being honest…why she could change the world…
