Anyone buy? sell? adopt? from Brit Le'Brand Farm Warsaw Ohio?

Hard to tell-whoever it is, i sure wouldnt bother calling with that attitude.
I found out someone filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney Generals Ofc 6/2012 against Belle Greye Haven Aussies. It looks like failure to deliver goods or something.

My partner is from Port. It may only be 20 minutes away on a map, but it’s really in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

I didn’t get to see the previous ads, but the horse is tied to a tree in a lot of farm equipment- is that typical of Brit? I’m thinking this is just a cranky horse owner.

She is still posting on Horseville. This looks like it could be a very nice mare. Very homely looking right now.

I could adopt her with different options… LOL
“We are offering several options with this mare lease, adoption (small fee), adoption with larger fee for breeding, adoption with future buy out or buy out right.”

WOW.

Wouldn’t adoption be buying her out right… all that crap is not making sense

That mare is Deltara aka “Dolly” I’ve tried getting her free and clear in the past but she wouldn’t do it. She requires crazy notarized contracts etc… I’ve pined over this mare for YEARS but I just can’t deal with crazy.

Good to know. I wanted to know how much she was to buy with papers. Sounds like a waste of time even trying

She just emailed me back stating:

“I would first want to talk with you over the phone to find out your intentions. This mare is very special to us and i want to make sure its a good situation. Thanks”

Unfortunately, for the horses–NO horse is worth getting involved with Britney Sturtz–RUN!

Not B Someone Else

here’s a link to the ad: http://tuscarawas.craigslist.org/grd/3126125594.html

here’s the text of the ad in case the link doesn’t work:

“Jasmine just turned 4 on april fools day.she is a tri colored paint with 2 blue eyes.she is roughly 13 hhs tall.she is up to date on wormings and hoof trimmings as just had both done in april.she did fine with getting her feet trimmed as well.she gets along with other horses but prefers to be with geldings then mares.she has never been the only horse either as I got her as a weaned colt and she has always been with another pony or horse.she is green broke to ride as well meaning she isn’t completely broke and needs finished out but shouldn’t take much to finish her out.she has had the saddle on her back and a grown adult on her back and led around and did pretty good and bareback she has had the same but has never had a bridle in yet.reason for selling is just don’t have the time to finish her out with being a single parent and working full time.serious inquiries only and I won’t call you first you can ask for my number via message as I’m not wasting my mins for a first call for a no show.I can’t deliver her either so she must be picked up here. Also don’t ask me what my bottom dollar is when you haven’t even saw her.she is already underpriced for what everyone else is wanting for blue eyed horses so don’t think I’m going to give her to ya for a cpl hundred as not gonna happen.Price is firm as well and if you ain’t totally serious on showing up like you say then plz don’t waste my time.”

Given the language/grammar/attitude in the ad, and the fact that the horse is located in Port Washington, OH (within 20 or so minutes east of Coshocton on the east side of I-77), this looks suspiciously like a Britney Sturtz ad.

What do y’all think?[/QUOTE]

Dogontired,
That Is not B. I posted that add on here over the weekend. Emailed and talked to that gal. Definitely not B.

thanks for the update, Swampskeeter, I noted the ad was missing phrases like “been there, done that” and “good home on a contract” and “serious inquiries only”…

Cuuuuuute horse, but what does “Incrediable” mean? If I had any desire to get tangled up with this critter, I’d buy… I’m sorry, long-term lease this horse and make that her show name.

When I saw Dolly 4 years ago, she was a 16 year old Dutch Warmblood that B had been trying to breed for several years in a row and the mare wouldn’t catch, so no foal. I love that the ad states an extra fee will be charged if the lucky adopter wants the mare for breeding. Watch out for the “adoption with future buy out” option, that will never happen.

Ernie, based on her past track record, I don’t think B has ever actually “sold” any of the poor creatures that pass through her parents’ farm. All contracts require monthly or bi-monthly “reports” along with pictures, forever, and if you miss one, B sues for breach of contract and repo’s the horse or pony. Impossible to get rid of her…

Yup- I read the thread. Being an Ohioan, I’m always super-curious about shady Ohio people.

When I adopted my rescue, I signed an agreement that I would email the lady who ran the place with pictures at one month, 3 months, 6 months, and at one year. At the one year mark, provided care was good, I would officially own the horse. It was no big deal, really, and the gal wasn’t strict about the emails being precisely on time, and we had a good working phone relationship if I had questions or concerns. So for me, the check-ins aren’t the problem- it’s the administration of them. If you’re going to require that, and then not be able to have a civil phone conversation with your adopters, then that’s just ridiculous. For lack of a better term!

Then again, I’ve been on the other side of the fence, where we had to sue an adopter for breach of contract. That was a little different though- she was starving the horse, not doing any medical maintenance, letting him wander the streets, and refused to send us pictures, when the contract said we could request follow up at any time.

“This is a great mare that we are offering to good home on a contract. No breeding or showing with the adoption contract, only to good home. NO registeration paperwork will be exchanged with this mare on adoption contract to ensure no breeding or showing.”

I love how it appears she is caring for the mare’s welfare when in actuality she’s running the long con on people.

$4K and she can’t put her in a halter and stand her up? Or even take a photo of her “incrediable” movement? “not started under saddle” should not mean you have to sneak up and take photos while she’s eating hay.

yup, with B, the administration of the check-ins is the problem. She also will unilaterally repo an adopted horse if in her sole opinion the horse is not “thriving”, and then use the check-in pix from the adopter to further “sell” the horse. In the insurance business, it is called “churning”.

Sorry for your other situation with the horse that was adopted out, I’m so glad you were able to step back in and get the horse back under your control. Good, fair adoption contracts outlining everybody’s responsibilities is critical to success, as is a clean bill of sale when title of the horse is transferred to a new owner. Avoids all sorts of problems…
