When will we ever get that “Ignore” feature back? :sigh:
Seriously!
Some days it feels like there needs to be both an “off topic” board and an “off meds” board
This is interesting to me as a service delivery manager that the standard for good service is “well I had way more bad experiences with a larger retailer that I likely order from a lot more often, so it is fine.”
I see we have also come full circle with the “you young whippersnappers with your instant gratification and your total lack of empathy don’t know how good you have it - they said sorry!”
If you are referring to my post about Amazon, that is not what I mean.
I am with Smartpak because they provide me with products I like and service that I appreciate. Have they always been perfect? Nope. But I have not hit a line in my sand that has made their less than perfect service a problem for me yet. Neither has Amazon.
I was simply pointing out, something I like to point out (you can check, I say it frequently), that Amazon’s two day shipping is not actually two days from order. That line in the sand is where it is because I have accepted this fact from them. Just like I have accepted Smartpak is full of humans.
Maybe someday both Smartpak and Amazon will cross the line and I will no longer use them. Neither have gotten there yet (for me). I totally get that in the case of this thread other people have found they crossed that line and are not going back. Thankfully we have lots of online horse product suppliers (including Amazon).
I will not shop at Dover. Lots of people like Dover. They are allowed to like Dover.
I’m curious what you don’t like about Dover? I go almost every other day now simply because it’s so much fun. I also occasionally do mail order and have had zero issues.
I find their website harder to navigate. I don’t like that I can’t get free shipping or the discounts I get from Smartpak. Typically when their shipments arrive the boxes are more damaged than Smartpak and the products aren’t handled with the care that Smartpak/Amazon seem to. I do not have a brick and mortar store as an option for either.
I see!!
Another opinion: if I know exactly what I want, there are way cheaper places to get stuff. If I don’t know exactly what I want and I’m browing Dover product pages on the web, the odds of a usable size chart are low. (…although, I submitted a snippy note to them a couple of months ago about it and they’ve cleaned up and added a bunch, which is nice.) The store I’m usually in has some fantastic people and some people who are completely full of crap and I can’t always tell them apart. They stock a narrower size range than most places. 90% of the time I’ll drive further (and pay sales tax!) to go to the SmartPak store instead.
I find the store in Wellesley very nice but it is small. I tend to go to.plaistow as it is near my barn and has no sales tax being in New Hampshire . I love going to the store at smart pak as well!
I do not have an option to go to their store (or Smartpak’s store). I am talking mail order.
I find their advertising deceitful.
I want to be able to go to the website and open the tab for (an example) breeches and know that the price that is there on the page is current price.
With Dover you need the catalog code from one of several current fliers to get the price that is listed in the catalog/sale flier.
Same with their store near me. If I HAVE to go in for something, I always ask if any of my items are on sale. They have the mail flyers under their checkout counter, and will check if I ask. But I have to ask.
In their flyers, usually adding an “x” before or after the item number (can’t remember which) brings up the sale flyer price.
Don’t forget if you are a USEF member you get 10% discount .
Being a member of quite a few organizations get you a discount. I am not a member of any of those that do though.
I wish being a member of USPC would be on the list.
You should email them!
Which are you referring to, Smartpak or Dover? Or other?
Dover…sorry!
i no longer use smartpak at all, toss in recycle bin. Before they were sold i only used them, prices terrific, fast shipping, great return policy, people nice. Now its just another company with lousy service, prices very high, SP brand of clothing is good for a couple wearings then turns to junk, shipping with a pigeon would be faster…my final straw was a pair of very expensive boots and they refused me returning. Saying I took to long to return It was less than 6 months and they were never worn etc. I couldn’t believe it. Also agree with the posts about advertising being deceitful! Happy customers… right, its really happy for the President, VP and board of directors. The girl thats been posting from SP is paid to babble on and “hears us” “feedback” bla bla bla. Soooo many better places to buy online or in store.

Your upset they wouldn’t take back boots that were six months old? Really?
Both offer this.
