Considering that they have historically had a “return any time, for any reason, no questions asked” return policy - yes, that would also make me unhappy.

Finally!
A returns process designed with riders in mind

Please Note:

It may take up to 10 business days for your refund or exchange to be fully processed. However, we’ll be sure to email you as soon as it’s all set. If you’d like help processing your return more quickly, please contact our Customer Care teamand we’ll be more than happy to help!

Free Return Shipping on Fit Items
As riders and online shoppers, we know it can be tough to buy a new bridle or pair of boots without trying them on. That’s why we moved the fitting room to your living room (or barn)! From breeches to blankets, if you or your horse can try it on, you can return it, free! Just use the pre-paid return label included in your order within 60 days from the purchase date. And of course, please make sure the item is in like-new condition with original packaging (we said “fitting room,” not “war room!”).

100% Happiness Guarantee

At SmartPak, your happiness is at the core of everything we do. We put our products to the test in our barns and on our horses, and back every order with our 100% Happiness Guarantee, so that you can shop with confidence. If anything you purchase fails to meet your expectations in any way, just let us know and we’ll refund your money right away. No hassles, no hoops, no kidding. Need to return an item?

No problem! Just make sure it’s in like-new condition, with the original packaging and send it back to:

SmartPak Equine
c/o Returns Department
40 Grissom Rd

We think all of our products are pretty special and we’re always happy to take them back. However, some are a little more special than others, so they have their own returns process:

Horse Blankets

 • Supplements
So that's it. Seriously. Those are all of our "rules." Well, except the most important one - treating our customers the way we want to be treated. So if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do, please call us at or email CustomerCare@SmartPak.com. We are always happy to help!

Glad you are all set now!!!

I know this likely won’t change any minds, and that’s totally ok, buuuut…I have to give SP some props.

I placed an order on Tuesday, mid-day my time, selected the free ground shipping (through my Smartperks) and my order showed up on my doorstep Wednesday afternoon - less than 36 hours after placing my order. I don’t think I have ever ordered anything online that showed up so fast. And no, it was not an expensive item.

I just had the same thing happen. After having the same crappy type of suuuuper slow ship times over the last 4-5 months that everyone else talked about. I also received an apology email with a $25 credit to use. So…for now, they’ll stay in my rotation of sites to buy from. I do have a supplement (not packaged in SmartPaks) set up on autoship too, as they had the best price (w/ the autoship discount) and I appreciate the flexibility to play with the next ship date as needed.

That policy is not the same as the one they used to have, but actually, the 60 days only applies to the free return shipping label it refers to in that sentence. They have always (and continue to) return things outside that time frame, you just get charged for return shipping.

No - it’s ambiguous.

No, it’s not. I have returned many things outside that window and been explicitly told that the 60 days is not a limit on the return policy but they do not offer free return shipping outside the 60 days.

Oh…Im sorry you are perpetually unhappy. I don’t find 60 days unreasonable at all. I personally get returns in immediately. I guess riding warehouse is more for you.

Yes, riding warehouse is awesome. They are my go-to now…But yes, Smart Pak used to have a year of returns. So yes, it’s very unclear in the policy.

I was very pleased to see a 10% code and free shipping code when my catalog came in from SP. THANKS!
Fingers crossed, but at least it’s not something I need urgently.

Also, in response to Dover—
Dover is way behind the curve. The shipping takes forever and its way too $. I do not need to play games to get the best price. I do not think that is very ethical. Otherwise I like the selection and have used them especially when I get a new horse and need to buy more in bulk since I need more things and can justify shipping, or when I needed a set of gear in certain colors.

Boy, there’s a lot of unnecessary venom towards one another on this thread as of late. It’s okay if someone disagrees with you, folks. In this case, it’s kind of a fundamental tenet of capitalism.

I’m with you. Just because some people have good experiences does not invalidate the poor experiences others have. And vice versa.

If one retail outlet suited all, we wouldn’t have choices.

@SendenHorse in our local store (Cincinnati) the coupon/sale prices automatically come up now. I don’t know if that varies from store to store?

I’ve had better shipping lately with Dover than SP. I ordered a blanket on a Sunday night and it was on my door by Wednesday. And when they messed up a custom Christmas present, they went out of their way to correct it even though the root cause was my husband (he ordered online, mistyped the monogram on 1/3 items, called to get it stopped, they ended up correcting the 2/3 to the wrong one. but made it right immediately, no questions asked).

I find the retail stores pretty useless other than for saddle pads and smaller items, but its nice to order things from the catalog and have free shipping. That being said, I don’t mind the $9.95 shipping they have now-its the same as SP if you don’t have smartpaks on autoship.

But just like with SP, my good experiences with Dover do not negate your poor experiences with them. It seems to really be no rhyme or reason as to why they are so variable.

I don’t shop at the store, sorry, since I don’t have one close by.

Riding warehouse is still my best bet for online. Good to know though, thanks for the info

My returns have finally been processed and my most recent order arrived in two days. I had a question the other day and the customer service rep I spoke with was friendly and helpful.

You must be really fun at parties.

I have never had a return refused and it’s not why I was ticked at Smartpak and it’s not why I started this thread. I was correcting misinformation.

but it’s really nice to know we have such a perfect example of humanity in our midst that we can all strive to emulate.

dig at riding warehouse for being a lesser retailer also unwarranted. They’ve been much better than Smartpak of late:

I’m glad to hear you are happy! We are both happy happy people!!!

I am ignoring your grumpy reply about parties…not sure what is bothering you so much .

No real issues with them but something I’ve notice (and not just with Smartpak). I’ll get an email say your package has shipped, has a tracking number. Try the tracking number but it doesn’t exist. I think the packing and labeling department plus their automated email’s get ahead of the actual shipping department that loads the box up on the UPS truck. I’ve found that it might be a couple of days before the package actually ships and the tracking number is valid.
