Has anyone had these boots from this co. ?
http://la-mundial.com/
They offer a custom pair for like 630.00.
They measured at KY Nationals this fall.
they are perfect. i wear mine every single day for over a year. best boots on the marked as far as im concerned
Daughter has them. LOVE them.
Has anyone had any experience in sending boots back for adjustment? How was this managed and were you satisfied with the exchange and the work done? My just arrived boots are deliously beautiful but too big ;-( I have emaled the company…did this on Friday am and have not heard back yet about sending them back. Did they reimburse the costs to ship back?
Don’t do it. When I finally received mine a few months late the zipper busted out the first week. I sent them back for repairs. 2 months later I didn’t have them back and harassed the La Mundial Rep out in California until he remeasured me and promised to get them fixed. I got them back 2 months later and they still didn’t fit. At that point I gave up and now they’re sitting in the back of my closet .
I purchased a pair of the custom lace-up paddock boots, and have a mixed review to give. The bad: the fit is not fantastic (just overall too big, which luckily I was basically able to fix by adding a foam-type insert), and the workmanship was so-so (boots came with one of the hook-eyes at the top not securely fastened, so it fell off the first time I went lace them up – again an easy fix, but not the kind of workmanship you would expect for custom). They were also kind of slow to deliver them (about a month later than originally estimated). The good: The leather is quite nice, and they broke in almost immediately. I wear them almost every day and so far they have been standing up nicely. And the price was not outrageous. So overall, I would probably get these paddock boots again, but I think I would hesitate to order tall boots where the fit issue would likely be a bigger deal.
I would spend the extra money and get full customs elsewhere… although they are inexpensive, it’s definitely not worth it. I was measured last year at Vermont in July and was told I would receive them in September. They didn’t end up coming until November, and they were the wrong boots!!! They were about three inches too short, the calf and foot size were huge. I went to the Equine Affaire where I was re-measured by someone different and they FINALLY came in sometime during February and they do fit perfectly. After the first measurement when I emailed the company to see where my boots were, all I got were responses in broken English filled with excuses about why my boots were not ready, etc etc. My boots do fit really well now, but I won’t be purchasing another pair simply because of the customer service issues. Two other people at my barn had the same exact issue I did. But if you don’t mind dealing with those issues and (eventually) want a nice pair of boots for an inexpensive price, then I would recommend them.
Mine didn’t fit at first-the zippers wouldn’t zip to the top or stay zipped. They took them back and supposedly stretched them. That lasted all of one ride. I had gussets put in so the zippers would fit and I also customized the snap at the top with velcro. The zippers then gave out so I had them replaced. I recently had the sole and heel replaced and oh yes I put inserts in because they were uncomfortable (fit but were just uncomfortable). So yes after adding gussets, new zippers, new heels, new soles and new inserts they are great boots. That being said the leather is very nice-it is not the leather that I ordered, but it is nice. My favorite part was when they took the boots back to stretch, they took out my inserts and threw them away so I had to go buy another set.

I had this problem. I ordered a pair that arrived in 4 months - too big in the calf and foot. I paid out of pocket to have the calf fixed at a custom shoemaker in NYC so I wouldn’t have to wait months to get them back if I sent them to LaMundial directly. I figured i’d just wear thicker socks and grin and bare the foot being too big. But when I put them on again after the calf was fixed, they were too short. Didnt notice until I sat on my horse with them on. If I had known they were going to be that short, I never would have spent the money to have the calf tightened.
LaMundial had a booth set up in Vermont this past summer so I brought them to the booth to see if LaMundial would make good on the too short boots by just simply adding a piece of alligator to the top (kind of like how der dau does it). I figured that was a much cheaper option for them than remaking the entire boot. At first the rep told me I would have to pay for the alligator, to which I replied that I’d rather have a new pair of boots then. They needed to make good on the boots not being right. He then had me try them on. He too thought the foot was way too big and suggested I just go ahead and get remeasured for a new pair. These were all wrong. He asked where/when I got measured originally and told me the girl who measured me then had been let go b/c she had gotten so many measurements wrong on orders.
I gave him the boots and left. I followed up my measurement session with an email directly to the company reiterating what he and I had discussed: The original pair of boots was wrong and that I would be getting a new pair to replace them with my correct measurements, as taken in Vermont. LaMundial confirmed this.
What I got in 3 1/2 more months was my old boots with a new leather piece (not alligator) added to the top. Think the black field boots with the brown tops, only the top is black leather. So, there is a very visible seam. No changes made to the foot size. The options were, alligator on the top (they declined and said I needed new boots because the foot was wrong) or new boots (an option THEY picked). They never discussed with me nor would I have accepted the regular leather piece being added to increase the height of the boots.
I do not recommend dealing with them at all.
I bought a pair of paddocks from them at VT the summer before last after hearing a friend rave about how great they were. Like many others, mine arrived a bit big - certainly not the custom fit that I expected - and they were delivered about 6 weeks past the promised date.
I had back zips put in my lace up boots because I like the traditional look and wanted the convenience of zippers. I wish I hadn’t since the zippers don’t stay up for more than 5 minutes at a time, so they always feel like they are going to fall off.
I guess I could take them to a cobbler to replace the zippers but I don’t love them so I haven’t bothered. The leather is nice enough but they are not particularly comfortable to wear - very thin soled. I did put a pair of gel inserts in them (regular Dr. Scholls from the drugstore) which helped a bit, but for the most part they were a disappointment and sit in the back of my closet.
I wouldn’t purchase from them again despite the low price.
Mine (paddock boots with laces and zip) fit fine, at least when I first got them.
I had the same problem with the back zippers falling down, which I fixed by installing a strip of Velcro. I also had them resoled with a thicker sole.
But finally, after about 5 years of abuse, and not conditioning them enough, the leather got stiff, and split by the balls of my feet.
Thanks so much for the heads up everyone!!
I had multiple problems with boots not fitting (too small to zip up). AFter several tries I have given up. total time involved - almost 1 year. Phone calls and emails to La Mundial - about 30. Pairs of boots received: 3. Pairs sent back: 2. I would not recommend them, even though I know plenty of people who are very happy with their purchase. It is a gamble of whether you “win” or not. I’d use the money and put it towards boots from a more reputable company. they will NOT refund your money, they will simply keep trying to remake boots until you give up and go away.
Don’t do it. I was custom fitted at the Robert Murphy Show over the 4th of July weekend. They charged my MC September 9 of 2009. I started calling them in November about where they were and got no satisfaction. I called
so much they finally shipped in a couple weeks toward the end of Nov. Arrived a size too small w/o the square toes I ordered. I spoke with Customer Service (In Ecuador BTW) with a very unhelpful and mean lady, who said I could send them back and they would fix them. I don’t understand how you can “fix” custom boots that are a size too small. After many phone calls, letters and much time spent I finally sent them back in December. Haven’t heard a word since. And they still have my $$ and my shipping back $$, too. I finally sent all the paperwork to my MC in an attempt to get the charge on my MC voided just this month as I haven’t heard back from them and am so over the whole thing.
Spend the money and order your boots from a reputable customer-oriented company like Dehner or Vogel. Not somebody in Ecuador.
My advice – stay away!!!
I ordered a pair at Harrisburg a couple years ago when they were $420 and were supposed to ship in 4 weeks. They guy gave me the whole story about how the people making the boots have learned from the same people that make Parlantis (which is what I wanted). I figured, how can I go wrong at $900 less than the comparable Italian boot?
My boots came 4 months and countless angry phone calls later. They fit like I was a 4’11" Santa Claus, mind you I’m 5’10" and very normally sized. But even worse, one of the boots had lovely smooth leather, the other was so horribly rippled and creased (because of a terrible job gluing together the lining and exterior leather) that it looked like snakeskin. I called up and gave them hell, and it took them a week to figure out exactly how I should go about returning the boots to them so they could make me a new pair. I ended up remeasuring myself, embellishing my measurements to be about 3/4 of an inch narrower from side to side and 2 inches taller than I actually was. This resulted in a new pair of boots coming, 8 weeks later, that were still 3/4 of an inch too short, and still with too much room in the ankle and mid-leg. But worst of all, I still had the same problem with the two different leather textures as last time. I’d call the whole situation a catastrophe. Fortunately, I ordered my Parlantis before even getting my replacement LM boots, so that when my Parlantis came ages later (which shouldn’t be a problem anymore with Parlanti actually having their own offices in America now) my LM boots were already on death’s door with cracked leather all up the back coming undone in the zipper seams.
So I’d say stay away from La Mundial. It’s a giant waste of money in my opinion.
I ordered a pair last year and they fit fantastic! I ordered in mid April and they came in Mid June, and the customer service rep always got back to me. I had some guy from Florida come and measure me in CA.
To be honest for 550 they are great-you can’t get a pair of ariats off the rack for that price!
Plus I ordered a pair of Ayora’s a year before this and it took basically a year to get them and the guy is super shady and I believe went bankrupt and out of business (A Friend of mine still to this day has never received her boots).
I really like La Mundial but to be honest I think each boot company will have their problems just don’t EVER purchase anything from Ayora!
I bought boots from this company in May 2009. There was no rep in CA at the time so they advised me to measure myself with their online guidelines. The boots arrived in early August which was only a few weeks after they had predicted. The boots were exactly what I had ordered and fit like a glove. However, they were too short as the measuring guide online did not mention to add 4 inches for break down- I assumed they would do that at the factory.
Anyway, I met with the new rep in November and she re-measured and has told me to send them back to Florida and they will either fix them or make a whole new pair. She emphasized that the owner is very concerned about customer service. Also she did say that none of the cobblers or owners speak very good English so it is best to correspond at elementary level.
My husband ordered some in 2008 and he loves them. After a few rides, he noticed the calf area coming apart, so he contacted the rep, who reinforced them and repaired them at no charge.
They are really great boots for the money, but it just requires patience when dealing with their workers. (However, I feel like this is the case with any custom product that is any good)
And yes, Ayora is no more and many people are bootless and none the richer. Mr. Ayora is now pursuing a photography career. No words…
Great boot
Hi Everyone, My boots came yesterday and I am happy to report they fit like they were made for me :). The leather is lovely, and the foot is very comfortable and supportive, and the workmanship is very nice. I am really pleased. The company called to tell me when the boots were going to be shipped so I could track them. I called this morning to thank them and let them know how pleased I am with the boots.
For the record, I purchased a pair of Vogels which were 3 x the price of these boots. I drove 150 miles each way to be measured by a reputable tack shop, where I will never, ever spend another penny. The boots arrived long after the date they were supposed to, were missing some options I had paid for (toe cap, for example) and did not fit properly. I called the tack shop and was told to bring them back so they could see them. I drove back (with an appointment) but the boot person (conveniently, for her) wasn’t there. Someone else in the store looked at the boots, looked at the order, and said “wow - those don’t even look like the right boots” and suggested I leave them. To make a long story short, neither Vogel (I did call Vogel - a very unpleasant man told me to take it up with the tack shop) nor the tack shop would accept responsibility for the boots. I fiddled around too long for my credit card company to help, so I sold them for 10% of the purchase price (not including my drive time or gas).
Never again will the tack shop or Vogel see a penny of my money. I prefer to do business with people who appreciate the patronage. fg
I LOVE mine. They are beautiful, fit perfectly, and cost me $550 delivered. They arrived almost exactly 3 months after I ordered them, as promised. I was apparently measured by the guy who would be making them, so maybe that is why I had such a good experience. I ordered them at Rolex a couple years ago. Couldn’t be happier!!
Got mine today!! I had read all of the “not so nice” reviews on here AFTER I had ordered mine and have had nightmares almost every day since! However besides being about 3 weeks late (which they called to explain to me, and that was fine!) I LOVE THEM!!! They are perfect in every way and definitely worth the (relatively inexpensive) cost.
