APHA Horse Lookup

Does anyone have a membership who would be willing to look up a horse for me? I’m hoping to see how he is bred. I have this horse, in the process of getting a transfer, and the darned website won’t work to get in. While I work on that - it would be great if someone had one and could.

Much obliged!

Paint Party?

I’m sorry?

I just paid my annual membership this morning, and it takes several hours for it to update. If you give me the registered name, I’ll look it up later, or get one of my friends at the barn to do it.

(Although someone else on Coth might be able to help sooner if it’s an emergency).

Paint Party has posted on here for years. She currently shows APHA and, IIRC, has looked up stuff for Cothers.

Send me the details, happy to do it.

Oh good! Because you know how APHA can be. They are sometimes less than prompt on stuff.

Oh!!! Haha. I was like - I’m not sure what you’re asking me to do (my brain instantly went to sip and paint types of activities).

Clearly I need more coffee.

There you go, ask on here and you get two willing responses. COTH at its best.

Thank you! Sent!

I’ve loved COTH through the years for exactly this, and for the irl friends I’ve made through it!

You do realize you have to share the breeding…and we like pictures.

Sorry! Stepped out to feed the herd - just responded to your PM.

Once I discover it, absolutely!

Unfortunately he is woefully unpainted for a paint horse

He’s out of shape and has no topline, but he is a handsome fella! He was given to me as a local hunter barn couldn’t use him for lessons as he was a major roarer. He has kind of been my back burner horse (the one we get out occasionally for people to bip around on) but the roaring seems to have mostly resolved with some dietary changes and a reduction of dust a few years in.

He still has a slightly funny nicker, but his breath sounds have been good so while I don’t think he’ll make a hunter (his initial intended) he may make a fine western dressage horse at least at the lower levels.

I’d just like to know how he is bred - obviously you can take a horse and repurpose it through training and conditioning, but he seems like he might have been pleasure or halter bred (his feet are too big for the halter ring though and he isn’t posty behind).

He’s a pretty solid, large, guy and doesn’t really look ranchy (technical term) or cowy. He is a beautiful flat mover and has a nice natural lope.

Ah, the illustrious issues with minimally marked horses.

Check your PMs @Alterration – the good news about APHA is that they enclose foal registration photos that are accessible to members.

The bad news is - I don’t think that the horse that is registered is this horse, unless his sock changed which hind foot it was on or I’m seeing things funny?

Regardless of who he is - he’s adorable and I love that he’s good minded enough to pull him out and putz around on! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

No, that’s him. The ring photo has the image flipped. This other image is from it the “right way around”. There’s a setting on the iPhone to do that and I flipped it accidentally when taking the ring footage.

Thanks much for the research! He is a doll and we just love him. Though his official barn name is Sully, I call him Nudge, as when he is looking to get treats out of you he nudges with his nose in a really cute way.

Even better! Congrats on your guy!

Thank you! I just adore him. He came as a freebie that I was evaluating for a client, but was too much horse for her…and then I just couldn’t send him on because I am a sucker. He’s a love. He seems to want to work and always volunteers when I go to the paddock. This year hopefully I can put time into him!

Looking at that 3/4 front shot, just a first impression, seeing some quality in the head neck and shoulder. He’s no mutt or accident and very nice expression and posture.

Thats all subjective and my opinion. You might have a gotten lucky here.

Yes, he is a very nice horse. He certainly looks well bred. I’ve got his pedigree now and while I recognize all of his damside (I know much more about AQHA breeding than APHA breeding) I’m still trying to learn about his sire side.

Sure enough, damside he is halter bred. Now I have to figure out that top side.
