Has anyone had a foal/horse by the stallion Apiro? i am looking for a friend-
I have, I was thrilled with him and sold him as a weanling. My friend who bred a mare to him ws also very happy with the resulting colt. Silver Creek provides excellent service. All around a great experience.
We have had two - a colt in 2009 out of a dainty Trak/TB mare and a filly in 2010 out of a TB mare. They ware both big improvements on their dams in athelticism and elasticity in movement. The mares were daisy cutters but he added a ton more scope to the gaits, making both very fancy modern hunter movers. Both have lovely heads and necks (although both dams have good heads) and were leggy, with great hind ends. They both are more on the sensitive side, the filly moreso than the the colt, but both more sensitive than any of the mares or any of the mares’ other offspring (each has had 4), BUT, it is very trainable and usable and to me simply means they are talented and athletic animals. The colt was sold in utero and we still have the filly who is now 16h at 17 months and stunning. The colt was second in the OTTB Weanlings class at Warrenton in 2009, also.
We plan to use Apiro again this coming season.
You can see both on our website!
Also, there are some existing threads here that may help you. Just put his name in the “search” box.
I like him myself! I think crossed with the right mare = lovely!

Yes!
I have one too; http://www.equusmagnificus.ca/acero-e-m.html
Apiro did exactly what I asked of him; lightened the front end, added athleticism. Plus, I got the “right” colour, just enough white and a superb temperament.
We have a Apiro colt, who was actually GOV inspected last weekend and was awarded premium. You can see pics on my webshots, we are really happy with him, he looks very much like a hunter but has alot of athleticism, so he could go into the jumpers as well, but he’ll let us know for sure;)
3rd horse down - Albi - http://www.twinwillows.net/page1.php - owned and sold by a client of mine - he was out of a fine boned TB mare - came out huge with tons of bone and incredible movement! Was “colt of distinction” at his breed inspection
Here he is as a foal - http://www.twinwillows.net/page4.php?view=preview&category=3&image=15
www.snapdragonstables.com has a lovely colt out of their mare Chessie. Jamie has said that Silver Creek is a class act to work with.
For reference, here is Albi’s dam Pavones when I and a friend(Albi’s breeder) went to look at her. Sweet sweet mare, a tiny bit sickle hocked IRL. I found her ad and went ‘hmm, she’d be a nice cross with Apiro’ and she was in heat within a week of us getting her home- that clearly went well.
Yes, now a yearling.

Look for Antares.
Top foal last year for RPSI in North America.
Danielle Veasy _www.SouthernOaks.net (new site under construction is DVSporthorses.com) has a beautiful 2011 Apiro filly - Alexi… I took a few dozen photos of her the other day… best I can say is, “WOW!!!” I’ll see if I can get them up on Danielle’s website.
Aprio certainly makes beautiful babies
can you guys out there with beautiful Apiro babies evaborate on the trot and temperment
My mare has a top trot, and Apiro took nothing away from it. We’re talking hunter hack winning trot.
Temperament is fantastic, willing to please, food-oriented (I appreciate that, if all else fails, we can always try treats!), curious, loves to cuddle… I am very pleased.
how about body structure size and height?
EquusMagnificus, you have a little Apiro clone on your hands:) Such a beauty
Thanks bluedapple!
Apiro is said to cross well with TB mares or TB-type mares as he tends to throw big. My mare is 50% Thoroughbred from an A-line Hanoverian sire, she is very elegant and it worked very well in that department.
As far as body structure is concerned, he’s big boned, but very elegant. He won’t be small, but his dam is not a tiny thing either. She was weighted at the Hospital at 590kg (just shy of 1,300 pounds) not in foal and the lean side of things.
I’m thrilled with him. I’d repeat the cross, but I sold the mare.
I’ll certainly re-use Apiro in the future if I have a suitable mare and feel like breeding a hunter again.
I have an Apiro yearling, I’m very pleased with her both in quality and temperament.
The mare was a half TB mare by Dutch stallion. She was 15.2 and fine-medium boned. Beautiful head. Athletic and elastic, super jumper, not a hunter mover. Very easy to handle but a little hotter to ride.
Filly is big-boned. Seems to have nearly twice the bone of my other yearling by Rubinus. She is quite tall and chunky, not very refined. Must be close to dam’s size as a long yearling. She moves very well, appears to be hunter hack winner in the field, a lot of suspension but very little knee action and a lot of reach Very long easy canter. Much flatter/better mover than mom. I am surprised at her substance, even though that’s why I chose him! She appears to be a little thick through the throatlatch which I don’t care for, but I’m hoping that will improve as she gets older. I notice that Apiro is a little that way in his photos. She looks very much like her dad, and very little like her mom. She has his eyes exactly!
Her temperament is interesting. She is easy and unflappable but can be stubborn. Not too clever in a good way that makes her easy and compliant. You could not spook this horse if you waved a big tarp in her face or jumped out of a hole behind her, it’s nearly impossible to chase/spook her into trotting away from you. Overall I like her temperament a lot, will just have to make sure forward is on her agenda when started!
A friend of mine has a lovely one that was 2nd in the 2 yr old hack at Warrenton in the IHF division and won the same class at the IHF finals. I love this horse. Really good looking. I was at Warrenton partly to watch this horse compete.
I have one in partnership with someone who posts on this board. He is out of a TB mare and is very sensible. Smart, relaxed, learns easily.
Lots of bone. Not ‘sensitive’
Good looking. Plain dark bay/ brown.
His half brother is an approved stallion with RPSI and GOV.
I bought Galileo’s weanling in 2009. He’s now 2 1/2 and is receiving his first 90 days of pro, on the ground training in preparation for next year. He is easy, lovely to be around and clever. Solid mind with a gorgeous body. Aubrey is out of a well bred TB mare (Reputed Testamony) and as such, had a pretty good chance of turning out well. He is better than good. I think he’ll be great. The trainer loves his “trainability” and his easy going nature. He’s medium to big boned and stands a little over 16 hands currently. Love, love, love him.
Quinn - don’t you think some posted pictures are in order? He was a beautiful yearling and I would love to see some new pictures of him as a 2 year old!
