Appraise my Filly

I have an AQHA filly, I’ll be picking her up in January. Her breeder has basically begged me not to sell her, and that she’s worth gobs of money (20-50k range). I didn’t pay nearly that amount for her, so I was curious as to what she would actually be worth. I’m not interested in selling her as of right now but just to satisfy my curiosity. Her parent’s papers and a picture of her are included in this post. Edited to add: I attached a screenshot from a video I had of me playing around with her. She’s standing a little weird in the photo but at least you can see her whole body. I know it’s not a proper conformation picture but she’s not exactly halter broke, I’m just going with the flow until I get her home

There is asolutely no way for anyone of us to tell if your filly has good conformation (which would be very important when guessing at her value at this age) by looking at a picture of her face.

A conformation photo would help. I’m sure there are You tube videos or other online sources that will explain how to take a proper conformation photo.

I’m glad that you’re excited and happy with her. :slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t find a photo of either the Sire or Dam of your filly, and it seems your “filly” is 7years old?

I found this http://dovesquarters.com/index.php/about-dexter

Retired stallion No performance record. No conformation photo. Ridden under saddle is it, as far as his info goes.

It looks like a backyard operation to me. They offer pasture breeding and live cover breeding in hand. $500.00 stud fee.

I sincerely doubt that your filly is worth the “gobs of money” that her breeder is hoping she is,
but that shouldn’t affect your enjoyment of owning her.

I don’t know enough about quarter horses to comment on pedigree or worth but that huge pointed screw/bolt sticking out of the fence in this photo is freaking me out.

I believe the pedigrees posted are for the dam and sire, not the filly herself. But then that would mean the filly is the result of a mare bred back to her own sire?

Of the few search results for the stallion, several are actually virtual/model horse “breeders” which is pretty weird. And even the one that appears to be real is a bit woo-woo…

I see nothing to quantify this filly being worth 5 figures, let alone 50K

I was assuming that the breeder would not breed a filly to her own sire and then claim the resulting foal was worth 5 figures.

From other photos I found searching, the older mare in the photo posted by OP is definitely Miss Ronika Zipnleo, so I would assume the chestnut with the star is the filly in question.

Oh dear. Though the appearance of the operation makes one believe that it might have happened, I hope it was not done on purpose.

Has she been tested, is she negative?
There is some Impressive in there, hopefully N/N:

There are several very nice horses of years past in her background.
Close up, no one knows how they compare, not much of a record recently.

Sorry, I’ll try to take a better photo and edit this post later… I live an hour and a half away from her, and I guess she is having a trainer come out once a week to work with her (halter training etc) and no sorry I should edit that, it’s her parents papers, not hers

No. She went somewhere on vacation and she came back to an accidental breeding. I got talked into purchasing her… so far no regrets, but I was just curious about what other people thought as to what she was worth

Haha, yea that’s the one, I didn’t think anyone would remember :joy:

She has not been tested, I’m going to ask the breeder about it

I didn’t really think she was worth what I was told, I’m kind of just going with the flow until I can get her to my house, I can’t see her regularly and a trainer comes out to see her once a week. I know I have my work cut out for me. Just for fun, what would it take to make her worth that much?

Not my fencing, just riding it out until I get her home, not long now thankfully

For any horse today to be worth very much it needs to come from close up very famous bloodlines that have won much, be itself extremely talented at something and competing against others as talented and winning it’s share.
That is one way to make any horse worth more money to others.
To the owner that loves its horse, caring for it, working with it, that horse is priceless.

Give this advice below careful thought. We also call that doing right by your horse:

Might want to wrap a bunch of duct tape or something on the end of that before your filly (or the mare) is seriously injured

That looks like the end of a wood post hinge, the kind you screw into a post to hang gates, or you weld to metal pipes.
You could make a small slit on a tennis ball and push it over that.
Wondering what is doing there, that end just sticking out there?
