Après-hunting hats

Alright all of you high fashion, creative, or just plain weird hunters I’m looking for pictures of (or links to) your favorite (or coveted) post-hunt headgear.

We had a spirited debate in my barn (fueled by post-riding wine and crackers) the other night about what the most stylish way to cover post hunt hair might be…yes, baseball caps, knit caps, or the good old fashioned “do-rag” was mentioned but I’m sure there are at least a few of you out there with much better ideas.

I can’t wait to see them!

All the cool kids wear flatcaps.

Love the Hermes!

Would happily take any of them…just need some extra change to afford them!

I use a German style Tyrolean hat. Kind of like this one. It’s great to put pins in and such. I keep an eye out for turkey feathers to stick in the band. I also keep baseball hats around in a pinch.

Oh, heck, I just wear any one of a number of baseball caps w/hunt logos on them. Generally the host hunt’s logo if I have it! Otherwise I might just wear my museum of hounds and hunting cap.

Not a fan of baseball caps. Best apres-hunt head attire I’ve seen on both women and men is the tweed driving cap.

I generally don’t wear anything, but may start bringing one of my (lesser decorated) carriage driving hats next time.

One of the best perks of being a horse person, is we get to wear hats.

Then we have to find hats to cover our hat hair

I agree Ware Whip! Since the general population gives funny looks to those who try to wear anything but a baseball or knit hat it’s fun that we can indulge in our post-hunt headgear.

Of course when the temps truly drop I long for something tacky with earflaps and fleece lining.

Can’t go wrong with a MFHA Subscribing Member ball cap!

Yikes! Hermes cashmere baseball hat w/leather trim?!!! $435.:eek::eek::eek:
Oh so not!!!

Yes indeedy, hats were deriguer at hunt breakfasts recently. Those wool, scottish style ones from Horse Country were kinda popular. I’m trying to find an old favorite in a catalog somewhere…remember those wool felt short brimmed hats that were “packable” or “collapsable”? Hikers wore them? Kinda fedora like? What were they called?
There’s always hairbands! OR just wear your hairnet and REALLY look good!!:uhoh::uhoh::uhoh:

I can’t find mine. I think it got packed away when we started renovating the house.

I’m impressed by the folks who wear the fancy hats and tweed caps. They look smashing but I can’t pull off that look so I stick to baseball caps…

Gambler style or Outback

I like a wool crushable 3" brim hat. The style is called a gambler, for the riverboat gamblers. Quite jaunty, fine if it gets squished under stuff, waterproof and does a great job of hiding the soggy hair. Mine are in bright colors because 1) I like color and 2) I can find them when I’m bleary eyed.

The outback co made some, and Tilley makes one that has ear flaps and a brow cover that tuck up until you need them.

Another style is the plantation hat, but that is hard to find in wool. It is seen in straw for the spring race meets.

BARBOUR HATS, sizes vary widely depending on style but always a good look. Some even have a woolly or quilted lining for the colder days.

I love this one redcashlin!

Oh, love the waxed Barbors! I wonder where I can find one state side? Anything to keep my head warm and dry and hide the hat hair.

I find all those poser “English Country” hats rather silly, but a nice suede baseball cap looks good.

Kevin’s here in Thomaville has them!

Love the tweed with the wax rose. Ok, feel free to PM me with your credit card number and pin if you want to buy me one for Christmas!

Anyone? Hello?
