Snaffel197----LaurieB…Glimmer- Shammy…1) what’s the general reasoning selling these broodmares infoal to AP??? 2) what would you think the reserve would be?? TIA
Short answer, Andrew…the reasoning is to make money.
Looks like the first two might be a breeder selling out as its a dam and daughter both selling preg to the same stallion. They know they can get high price for them right now because they’re in foal to the first triple crown winner in a long time and this is his first crop. people are willing to pay $$$ for the hype.
It will be interesting to see what the sell for and if they sell.
Regardless, I will be waiting for some AP babies when they are ready for a new career
I am super excited to see how his babies do.
Good thinking Snaffle, it would be so awesome to get a racetrack reject by AP. I wonder how likely that is going to be? I’m guessing, at least for a few years, the mares will be going on to broodmare duty, and the colts may go on to stud duty even if they are only slightly succesful.
I just want a smaller gelding by him. that’s all. loved his conformation and his pedigree.
And it sounds like he’s passing on his awesome personality too.
He went to at least a few grass horses. Coolmore sent him some really nice Galileo mares (including Group 1 winner Maybe) and have said they plan to send at least a few to Ballydoyle for Aidan O’Brien to train. Baffert said at one point that he thought AP would have made a good turf horse if he was ever allowed to run on it (who knows if that was just a marketing quote) so it looks like they’re also hoping he’ll pass that on. His sire has at least one G1 winning turf horse so at least there’s some turf success close behind him to help a bit.
Divalarious sold yesterday for $380,000 to White Birch Farm in foal to AP.
Dame Ellen was RNA’d at 185,000
the remainder selling in foal to him sell today
Very curious to see what hip 453, the Galileo mare, goes/is RNA’d for…
