Arabian Stallion Suggestions for a TB Mare

I went to a farm several years ago that was run by an older lady who had been into horses for decades. One horse in her herd stood out for his presence and movement - she told me he was a Shagyar Arabian. Never forgot him, or his look.

If you want a horse that has form over a fence you will need to see some video of him jumping - lots of them drop their knees and lift their heads.

Not a bad suggestion, except Shagya/TB crosses are ineligible to compete in AHA competitions and aren’t registerable Anglo OR Half Arab.

A bit OT, but I am finding that the AM lines (and similarly bred horses–Raffles/Indraff, Rissalix, etc.) cross quite well with the Aurab/Aulrab horses. I’ve got three young ones (3,4, and 5 years old) on the ground now and a fourth one (by Magic Aulrab out of FCF Silver Stardust who is a daughter of AM Tawny Britania) due in late June/early July.

Magic Aulrab did one 100 mile ride. That was in 2004.

No other rides after 2007.

I believe Magic would have continued if Peter had wanted to continue. Most endurance horses are owner ridden, and time is a big factor. Peter’s wife continues to do endurance and chose to ride a different horse better suited to her. Magic is a big strong horse.

What should be known about Magic Aulrab is that he is highly trainable, very willing and has 3 huge gaits. More important… he is producing babies that grow up and allow their ammy owners to train them, show them and endurance ride them with ease. I have personally seen many of Magic’s foals - all of them are ammy friendly and the ones that have been bred specifically for sport are growing up as top dressage prospects. One of them has been owned and trained by her ammy owner with just taking lessons - she has done extremely well in Training & First Level as a 5 year old, winning over other top youngsters and seasoned dressage horses. I specifically bred my AHS Arabian mare to him for a dressage horse - he is everything I invisioned and more. HUGE relaxed gaits and tons of swing thru the back - not an usual Arabian characteristic. Our Magic colt out of our Hanoverian mare is amazing! And sold at 4 months to a dressage home and not an Arabian person. Extremely elastic and EASY to handle.

This is a video of Magic Aulrab taken in October of 2009. I know the year because it was the year I was sick. He had just driven home 5 hours from where we were standing him. I put him in the barn to drink and then turned him out to take some video.

apologies as off topic really but I was so pleased to read that Marcus (Aurelius) has relations in the US who have had good results in endurance - very encouraging! - onwards and upwards and maybe we will get to the magic 100 miles at some stage!!(only at 50 miles last year as it was his second season and my first season riding him as prior to that he had been doing the “showing” thing, plus dressage and sj)

Anglo Arabian stallion, 16.1h, homozygous for black. National Champion SHIH, Top Ten over fences and SHUS. Signal Bey+++/. He is clear of SCID, CA, and LFS.

His half sister (same dam) went Champion Hunter Hack and Reserve Champion Working Hunter ATR at Scottsale last week. Did you see her? Her name is Sneakerss+. And don’t be too sure an Anglo won’t be a conformation hunter. This mare is a favorite of the big hunter judges.

His full brother is also a National Champion.

His two other half sisters (same dam) are National and Regional Winners, and Zone Hunter Breeding Reserve Champion.

First 3 pics are him. Next pic is his first born, a 17h gelding out of a TB mare (rider is 6’2"). Last pic is his sister, Sneakerss+.

Allanglos - not only is that a gorgeous stallion but the FULL arabian baby you just posted on the 2013 foals thread and the siblings? WOW - really really NICE - I have only my memories of riding at Al Marah when they were in Maryland while I a kid growing up in DC.

I also have a purebred stallion, FC Casino Royale, that consistently improves the hip. He tends to throw the mare, but he does improve the hip, hoofs, shoulder and trainability/disposition. His foals are also taller than their dams. He is tested clear SCID and CA. I haven’t tested him yet for LFS.

Thanks 3Dogs. The Anglo really has a great mind, as does the purebred. They are stabled next to each other and are best of friends. I also just posted info on the purebred stallion. The Anglo has the best canter, ever, and he throws it. The dressage trainer for his first born LOVES the gelding’s canter:)

I saw him at the little show I went to yesterday and he was great =) Didn’t even care that I was standing right next to him while I was on my mare. This stallion, WH Strider is out of a Komsul daughter!!! That means the dam is a *Sulejman grand daughter. Very interesting!!. *Sulejman was considered to be one of the very best Arabian stallions imported to the US from Poland or anywhere else. He is by a nicely bred sire too of mostly California CMK horses. Di Hopkins who ownes Strider use to have Blitzen of Pico who was a wonderful horse and sire. I believe she may have lost him to old age as he would be pushing 30 now.

Strider is the same dark chestnut color like Komsul!! Very nice horse!!!

I stand corrected. Blitzen of Pico is in Utah. After posting I remember Di Hopkins letting him go to a breeder up there. He had a foal in 2010. Check datasource for the new owner’s contact information. He may not ship but he is/was a wonderful horse and a very tall, well conformed Arabian in the 16hh range.

Thank you for your vote of confidence in HG Esquire+. Do you know which kids it was that you seen? Or recall where you seen them at??

The trot is THE easiest thing to display/fix while the walk is so very important and the equivalent to the canter at a much slower rate I find it interesting that a lot of those involved with Arabian Sport Horses put so much emphasis strictly on the trot and much less on the walk and canter. I find it much more impressive to see a using canter and a slinky walk where the horse is using itself from the back to the front. It is in fact one of the things that is common with Esquire+'s kids.

Here is a link to video footage of one of his Half Arabians that was just made available again. He was snatched up in less than 72 hours and heading to the trainers on 3/9 in New Mexico before going to his new owners. This gives a brief peak at how his kids move ~ this foal being out of a Grade Cremello mare, quite possibly a QH?? We do not know for certain her background and can only presume.
