Would I be tarred and feathered if I showed up at on the local level show circuit with black tack (including a silver clincher browband and the little tab that flash bridles have-minus the flash strap)? Dressage is my focus but the low-key local shows only have hus/eq/hack classes. I just want to partake since I’ll be there anyway with my sister and her horse.
Personally I would get a plain browband instead of using one with silver clinchers.
Local schooling show. No one will care… let me rephrase that… no one who matters will care. Go. Have fun.
I heard a rumor that black tack is starting to become more of a thing. Just say you’re a trendsetter. I’d lose the clincher browband, though. Distracting.
Agree with the other posters - swap out the clincher browband for a plain black browband, and you will be fine.

This.
Personally, I HATE clinchers* so I would say lose it, but the above still applies. I’m not anyone that matters.
*Imagine my chagrin when my friend points to a horse’s clincher browband and tells me that I bought it for him. I was like  because I HATE that browband and even bought a new bridle for the horse when I was riding him so I didn’t have to use it. When I adamantly told her I did not, she said I did because she used the gift certificate I gave her to buy it for him. Ugh.

I didn’t say it was a GOOD rumor.
I was actually just talking to a CWD rep that said it is becoming a bit more popular. I’ve also noticed that Nayel Nassar has a black 2Gs!
It’s not my style personally, but if you like it then go for it!
Well-loved, well-preserved havana tack looks black over time.
You’re heading to a schooling show. Go have fun and don’t worry about the color of your tack. The better rides/rounds will be what is rewarded.

Suck it, Nick.
It’s not my style either, but whatever floats your boat.
(PS, Katie - did your stolen saddle ever get recovered?)
Truth time.
I had black tack in the early 90s.

Yeah, I walked into the booth at Spruce and was met with a massive black saddle sitting on the plastic horse! Again, not my style, but I just think my horse looks better in brown!
No luck finding anything, but luckily my insurance pulled through so I can afford to replace it all!
Most people in europe have black tack. It’s driving me crazy that I can’t but a black leather girth for my black jumping saddle here ;). Personally I like brown but it’s much harder to match. To OP O compete in jumpers and eventing in all black tack with dare I say it an incredibly blingy crystal browband. It doesn’t stop us from winning ;), besides I like it
I personally am not a fan but I think you will be fine at a schooling show. Have fun!!
I like the black tack. I don’t mind being the one in the crowd with something different. I’ve been trying to buy a Bates saddle that comes in black, can’t find anyone that has one. While I love brown too, it comes in so many shades that your never quite sure what you are going to get until you get it and then you can’t match anything to it.

Me, too. I was an eventer who dabbled occasionally in hunters. No one noticed or if they did, they never said anything about it.
It is a local show.
No one will care.
