How heartbreaking, he was trying sooo hard for her :’(
God that was awful. My heart breaks for that horse. She should’ve pulled up.
horrible to watch
I am sure she is in for a interweb crucifixion. I hope the horse recovers OK
Why are the American horses not fit enough? This is the most need at the 4* level.
While I know she had issues with his fitness at her first Rolex, she seems to have worked very hard to improve it since then and she came over early… I honestly have never him seen him look like that today and makes me wonder if everything is ok. She absolutely should have retired… Regardless, feel so bad for her
How long has Eliza been over there with him?
Kathryn Robinson is showing as retiring at 9. Has anyone heard what drove that?
the first 2/3 of her course was inspiring. the last 1/3 was awful to watch.
Johnny was barely doing a slow canter at the end, it looked like. Poor guy. Still, a fall at the last is heartbreaking.
I feel like usually Elisa is a better horsewoman than what we just saw. Disgusting. I hope Johnny is okay.
Kathryn’s horse appeared to slip and fall on the turn there unfortunately.
What’s going on with the footing? Have riders not studded properly? I’m seeing a lot of slipping and sliding on what appears to be fast footing.
I think she’s been there 2-3 weeks.
Kathryn Robinson slipped after the water
Nothing wrong with that horse other than not conditioned properly. He looked great at the start and died quickly. I’m glad the commentators were making comments about the horse just being left standing. That’s terrible for him after such exersion.
How do you run out of gas on xc on an ex racehorse? How does Donner have 30 time penalties? Is it a program thing? Are they spending too much time drilling dressage? Did they run their horses down so much to be calm for the dressage that they took out energy for the xc?
I can’t imagine the indecision EW must have been feeling. First badminton. They were clean. He’s a syndicated horse. The cost of getting there was huge. He was clearly running out of steam but the last two fences before he lost her weren’t bad jumps. I think she retires if it’s Rolex. I think she retires if she’s the only owner. I bet she wishes she had retired. It will be interesting to see if she gets carded for pushing a tired horse.
what happened to Kathryn robinson at water - they said a fall, then showed her walking away on the horse??
That just gutted me.
I’m a big fan of Elisa’s. I think she’s such an amazing & positive rider. She should have pulled him up several fences prior. I just can’t imagine the pressure of being on that giant course for your first time and your amazing horse, who is normally so full of go is that winded. She was literally & figuratively on foreign ground.
She just received the experience she needed right after she needed it. I’m glad she & Johnny are both up & walking. I’m still a huge fan.
Wow that was really hard to watch.
I’m reminded of Rolex a few years back when Boyd retired Trading Aces (I think) just a couple of fences before the finish. That was true horsemanship.
With four US rides, we only have one finish and one that was hard to watch. Some I might put to riders, but if we have a “Team” coach, he is doing a very poor job is helping prepare these riders for the conditions. At this point WEG may be another mess for the US. We have tired horses at Rolex, exhausted horses at Badminton and retirements with low points. I don’t think the issue is dressage, but we are not prepared at all for cross country. Jung jumped from 10 to 1, because of his work with Sam.
It’s been interesting watching the body and leg positions and the hip angles of the different riders and comparing by nationality and horse type. I know that for me, it was an adjustment learning to ride Irish horses coming off of riding primarily Thoroughbred horses. I will have to look up the breeding for some of the horses I noted particularly so I can think more about what I can learn from that.
man, this is getting rough
