What is up with the one camera with the big round smear in the middle? I’m having a bad feeling that it is on purpose. It’s so round and they haven’t corrected it. I wish they would clear that spot, it’s hard to see through it.
What are you seeing that tells you the horses are exhausted?
The television…
Oh. Everything explained then.
Laura Collett and Kylie Roddy have withdrawn - I wonder if there will be others.
I was at Badminton in 2014 when nearly half the field was eliminated. They had gotten heavy rain the day before. The day of was high winds and off and on rain. When my brother and I got there we parked by the Vicarage Fields. As we walked across the course it was like walking in a really wet sponge. It wasn’t muddy just as spongy as you can imagine. I told my brother there were going to be really tired horses. Sure enough a lot riders pulled up 3/4 of the way through with really tired horses.
I expect from the pictures I’ve seen after yesterday’s rain the footing is close to what it was in 2014.
Wow wow to Colorado blue. What a phenomenal round. James rushbrooke too.
I’m listening to the radio while I do the barn and that’s very much what the commentators are saying as well.
i wonder whether the horses with more TB blood will do better in these conditions. does anyone know his breeding?
Gemma commented on her long slow fitness prep and the horse’s 85% TB breeding.
Horses are tired on this course.
But I don’t think it’s course design.
I think it’s the ground and fitness from a missed prep season.
He’s Jaguar Mail x Rock King x Shaab so plenty blood
I do think that the ground is drying. It started getting better in the mid 20’s. Thankfully!
Gather that they have had a great deal of rain over the past several months.
I don’t know about there, but here that can create a ground saturation that does not go away quickly.
Here it’s possible that the top dries, but there are some packed sludgy spots.
Gemma has hit that mare before so many jumps. Is that kosher?
Fiona Kashel has WD her second. Hope all is well with her & her first ride.
I would say that Gemma tapped, not hit. Yes to keep the mare coming forward at quite a few jumps.
I wasn’t counting, but she appeared to have stayed inside the rules.
Fiona Kashel has withdrawn her 2nd horse, but that may be bc she is not 100% after fall with her first horse, and has the good common sense not to try to navigate this course injured.
I just fence judged the water at a 4* & had an issue with one rider that I was hoping would get an excessive use of whip yellow card. I saw not only my complex but a few before & one after. She whipped at them all. I was told by the ground jury that you can whip twice, per fence…
Gemma summarized—
Ground soft & holding.
Sunny & warn with no breeze.
My guess, also more humid than usual . Humidity with no breeze just saps energy.
Is anyone else seeing the big round heavy fuzz obscuring the center of the picture on one camera?
