Badminton;

She should be getting a yellow card. If Ollie got one so should she jmo. That was clear three hard whacks.

Piggy is the best commentator :joy::joy::joy: that’s literally how I am watching hahaha

From what Piggy said sounds like the course is absolutely awful to ride. Props to the US riders so far who made it look easy!

Thank you for the clarification re: yellow card

Questions regarding Nicola Wilson’s fall (happy to hear the news that she’s stable): has anyone heard details on why the fence was removed, and also, does anyone know if the frangible (clips) activated/came into play during the fall (or not)?

Not surprising to hear. And agreed—the Americans are mostly the only ones so far not running flat through this whole course. Well worth the cost of the time penalties.

It was a corner. Not frangible, or if it was, clips weren’t activated. The fence did not appear damaged. I can only assume it was removed because of the severity of her injuries, but I could be wrong.

Edited to correct: fence was a basket, not a corner. Hard to tell a bit from the viewing angle to me!

I was catching up the EN coverage, the gif of Mai Baum through the corners showed a fancy bit of footwork on his part when he realized they were turning to another fence. Impressive.

I need to take a look at in in the course preview. Thanks! I guess it was a solid corner then?

Yeah Will!!!

I listened to him last week or so on a podcast (can’t remember which it was?) but he really seems to think the world of this horse. Looked to be a lovely round from what we saw.

It was at the basket. It’s solid, isn’t it? No pins

Oli’s was a tougher call. Horse didn’t get his hind over jump. His shoulder was up the whole time but hip must have been on the fence enough that they determined it a fall. If not
it would have been 15 for missing the flag. Was very impressive how he stayed on. Most riders would have been popped off. Horse looked fantastic over rest of the course.

Yes, you’re right. Looking at photos now. Appears like a corner from the angle they’re showing but you’re correct it was the basket. Very solid.

Could you send me a link to the photo by chance? It seems to be gone from here?

Ah OK, it’s there, I was just mixed up. Thank you so much!

wow, that was a quick reaction to update the course view.
I think (but may be mistaken) that 27 is the same basket type jump as 26A

My picture shows 26a though so idk if that’s the correct jump
