thank you
Did she start before Tom? Maybe thatās where Iām missing her.
Gorgeous round from Tamie!
Edited to correct spelling of Tamieās name!
It was having some trouble at the beginning for me. I turned it down to 720p and itās better. (Iām also out in the country on DSL so⦠)
radio badminton says Mai Baum looks good for WEG and possibly Paris
What disturbed me about that compilation is the number of riders who hit their horses after the horses refused or in the case of one horse, crashed through a fence, and the rider hit him on the gallop away. That horse literally saved his ass from being on the ground, and he got a whap for it.
Terrific ride for Tamie, well done!
Deserving winner.
Loved Lauraās interview, so humble and grateful for her horse. āI couldnāt see a distance to anything, but he just kept jumping higher and higherā¦ā glad to have a peek into whatās going on in the mind of a champion, and that it isnāt that much different than what goes on in my decidedly non-champion head when riding under pressure!
Lol! Domās horse looked very strong
Two after Tom maybe? I think 32:40 through Huntsmanās is when we first see her and Dubs but thereās footage of them all the way through to the solar farm which was 2 before the fall
To those saying we canāt be expected to win a medal at the WEGs or Olympics, what about the days of KOC and DOC? Why were we successful then, but are not expected to ever be again? Whatās changed?
Long format? (I donāt know when it changed to mostly short formats, but it certainly made the non-Thoroughbreds more competitive.)
I didnāt buy the livestream so I canāt comment on specific rides, but a blanket condemnation of every rider that uses the whip after a refusal or going away from a sketchy jump is a bit unfair.
If the rider missed and the horse stopped in order to save both their asses? The horse deserves a pat, not a smack. But if the rider gave the horse a good ride and he just said, ānah, Iām not sure I wanna drop into the water todayā Iām not going to criticize the rider over a smack or 2.
Likewise, if a bad jump was caused by the horse getting behind the riderās leg coming in and not responding to the aids, I donāt think a smack going away to move him back up in front of the leg is wrong. However, if the bad jump was purely pilot error, itās pretty unfair to go to the whip.
For the record, the team is five. Four will compete for team and individual, the fifth as an individual only. (Per the selection criteria posted on the USEF website)
I think there are a lot of factors. One is that I donāt think our competitions at home are as tough as those overseas. The girl in second at Kentucky was 21 years old. Do we have anyone that age that can compete at that level? Go look at the grassroots championships BE100 (training level). I think if you put that course as a training level in the US people would be screaming how unfair it was with corners, broken bridges, etc. How often do we suffer score inflation? We have people put in great dressage scores here at home but canāt replicate it overseas.
The other is that equestrian supports are slowly eroding away in the US. Here in Virginia in 2012 there were over 200k horses. In 2020, that number had dropped to 86K. Nearly 50% of those were used for trail riding. The average person owns two horses and 50% of them are used for trail riding. So the number are against the idea of developing top eventers.
Put Tamie and Ariel on the plane to Pratoni!!! Very impressive weekend for both!
Also perpetually obsessed with Team Price-plz tell us mere mortals to keep 19 year olds running like that!

That was great to see. So emotional and proud of her horse.
This omits Liz Halliday-Sharp, and if Deniro Z comes back on form, he too could be a contender. But otherwise I agree. And Iād love to see Ariel get a shot as well, but if our selection process holds true to past form, hard to see her having a shot at anything other than the individual spot. But I sure was impressed with them this weekend, they look great!
Happy to see Tamie earn her chance (hopefully), Mai Baum is an amazing horse and they seem to have improved his rideability.
I think PD is a terrific rider, but Z just is never going to have competitive dressage scores. Not sure about Arielās dressage scores yet, I think maybe Boyd, Doug, Tami and Ariel with Liz as a back up or individual rider?
Also Phillip was the highest placed US rider at the last WEG (2018).
I would slot Will Coleman in there - he has a pretty nice string and is quite competitive when he remembers which route to take. Liz is great and consistent, but Deniro Z seems to struggle with the long format. Heās also been out of FEI competition for over a year, right?
