Barisone assessment

If we do, we all need to post a carrot for him.

Two months ago I was right there with @3PonyFarm. And part of me still thinks that it would be in everyone’s best interest if it just quietly went away.

But I agree with you that I think he has to go forward now. I think long term it would do far more damage to him to voluntarily pay out any kind of settlement.

Tons of cases make it to trial. While I was working in 2019 they were adjourning cases to 2023. I use this as it’s preCovid. Worse now. Actually all Small Claims cases are forced to do mediation first due to covid and backlogs.

Absolutely!

The SOL may have been paused for Covid when new cases could not be brought forth.

Good point. I forget about that.

I think they prefer to settle because going to trial has to be scary for them. It’s a huge financial expenditure for attorney fees - pro bono is doubtful here - and they’ve seen their sketchy narrative isn’t believed by anyone.

Plus the exposure danger will be HUGE for LK.

I honestly don’t understand how any attorney could watch the performance of LK and RG on the stand and think, “you know, that was so great, let’s do it again!”

Fortunately Mr. D seems very capable as a trial attorney. I liked his demeanor in the court room. I’m sure the other ones are also very skilled.
I just cringe to think he may have to go through this all again.

My opinion is it would be a huge mistake on their part.

LK is too misguided in the belief that she “won” the criminal trial, and that she will be even more of a winner at the civil trial, to walk away. Instead of tucking tail and slinking away after her bad behavior was exposed, she is convinced even more she was right.

I would hope if I were that delusional, my family and friends would get me the much needed help I required to live a healthy and productive life.

I am all over the map this summer and just fall further and further behind.

But, what wonderful news re: MB!! A contact visit with his beloved, real clothes and books and more freedom of movement. It’s a shame we are this far from the verdict and he’s still at AK, but at least things are improving rather than not.

True. However, given just what we know about the Kanarek family rap sheets, plus the drugs, plus RG’s extensive criminal history, plus all of LK’s bottomless pit of SM posts/beefs/vendettas/“reviews”/etc., the biggest losers are going to be that family. They should give it a long, hard think.

To quote Holly Golightly, as I’m won’t to do, “There’s a certain shade of limelight that can wreck a girl’s complexion.” And that ‘girl’ will go for KK, JK, and the sisters as well. There will be no unhearing the stuff people are going to hear in the civil suit.

But if he is shown on texts, etc. aiding and abetting such behaviour by LK/RG, would that not be an issue for his license (not that he’s a practicing attorney, but it’s certainly a major black mark to be disbarred)?

It may bring him comfort to be able to further get his story out and FIGHT back in a fruitful way.

Mr D does seem like a good one.

I prefer to think of it as MB choosing to go through it again in the hopes of telling everything that was previously excluded. :). He could settle and walk away, but at this point he’s not. He had no choice in the criminal trial. This gives him back a little control.

It may not be her wallet paying the legal bills so it may not be her choice. Maybe dad doesn’t want to drop $400,000 on this.

If she could only afford to pay $5000 on board/rent there may be nothing left for an expenditure as big as buying a house with no guarantee of win. No guarantee of winning and no guarantee of reimbursement of legal expenses.

I believe he is retired. So it’s just a shame thing. Not sure they engage in feeling ashamed ever.

It’s going to be so, so ugly.

If I had that kind of stuff from the discovery, you better believe I would have turned it into the bar in whatever state(s) he’s licensed in, retired or not!

I thought it was Well over 30,000 pages…and that was before she wrote another 20,000

30,000 pages of discovery. But they all kept saying 19,000 were posts.

And yes, she’s been quite voluminous post verdict.

And, dear God, what if they have to listen to the Moustache again?

If they do the trial zoom style, do the jurors watch the proceedings on zoom? They don’t have to be there in person? Maybe they can read while Mr. Moustache is doing his cv.
