Do the hearings all have to be in the same court in front of the same judge? Or can they transfer the responsibility to a different state or jurisdiction if the person relocates?
It seems like it would be quite a pain in the neck if MB had to keep returning to the court in New Jersey from his home in Florida.
So much of that is going to depend on any release terms that are ordered. But once he’s been released to community supervision, it appears hearings are pretty infrequent unless you’re not cooperating with your terms of release or otherwise getting in to trouble.
If you dig in to it, technically he would remain under Judge T’s supervision until he gains full release. How that looks in reality, I have no idea. I’ve tried to see if/what NJ does for interstate patients, but I’m drawing a blank.
Of course, a full release means you’re done, no more hearings necessary. Those timeframes I listed are presuming the patient is still committed or institutionalized.
It was posted on Aug 24, 2021 in the “Court Date for Michael Barisone?” thread. The official post number is #1880, but the counter registers more like #1847.
FitzE accuses you of being “snide”, “juvenilely snarky” and that your post “showed bad faith” and constituted “faux civil discourse”. She said “you do not rate my labor to explain my position” and that you repeated “verbiage I used in a mocking way”. She says that if you don’t want to be accused of being a troll, you shouldn’t act like one.
Your posts leading up to this were completely polite and respectful, and you were apologizing for not having been clear.
So that’s the post. I was appalled. If that barrage of accusations didn’t bother you at all, you have a far thicker skin than I.
Yep, there’s your problem, labeling people this way.
Maybe read what they write without assuming things about them you can’t know
This isn’t a popularity contest
This case and the events that lead up to it isn’t a game, and no one’s on a “team”.
Oh my gosh, I can truly truly relate to this. I had bought my “one special horse” when he was 3 months old and he was nearly 17 when I lost him in similar circumstances. He had had EPM for nearly 10 years which - thanks to my amazing sports vet - we had successfully managed well enough for my horse to be schooling solid PSG. But his vax were done by the barn’s routine vet, who had strict instructions to break up my horse’s vax as he did not tolerate combo vax’s well at all. Sadly, she didn’t adequately supervise her tech one day and my horse was given Vetera Gold right as he was starting to experience an EPM flare (which happened every autumn). His immune system was overwhelmed and we couldn’t control the EPM progression, and he aggravated an old spinal injury at L5-S1 struggling to get up in his stall. He suffered a moderately severe herniated disc and had significantly reduced proprioception in his hind limbs, and since he was in a lot of pain and I feared he would suffer an even more catastrophic injury, we let him go. It was 2-1/2 years ago, and I still cry over him.
My beloved gelding passed due to EPM at the age of 24. He was still going so nice and sound at the time. He passed in 2018 after 8 months. I thought we had won. He had returned to full soundness. A week later he crashed. And that was it.
I’m seeing all this pearl clutching over some post from 18 months ago (or whenever) that snidely asked LK if she had gotten her implant fixed yet…
Uhhhh… LK admitted on the stand she $hit posts on social media ROUTINELY. She attacked a woman who lost a child to drowning in an absolutely VILE manner.
Yet… we are supposed to clutch pearls over a snide remark about surgery and her implant?
Just a general FYI… As many are aware on these forums because I have posted about it before… I’m a breast cancer survivor. Been through multiple surgeries and two types of reconstruction, including implant swaps, etc. I participated for about three years in a huge online support group (international) of women who were dealing with reconstructions that were in progress (and were living as flat or with a ‘uniboob’), as well as women who had experienced failed reconstruction, or who had opted out of reconstruction. People were VERY blunt, and sometimes salty, when discussing all sorts of issues related to surgery, trying to reconstruct breasts, etc, in that group. It’s just kind of how it goes for many folks after they have these experiences. Surgery is dehumanizing in many ways (I do have sympathy for that aspect of LKs story). Anyway… most women I know from group wouldn’t have even raised an eyebrow at the snarky comment GreenWithEnvy directed at LK. LK was simply reaping what she had sown… no more, no less.
If LK was feeling vulnerable and sensitive about her appearance and implants post op… then she had the option of not talking about this aspect of her experience on social media. But… she didn’t take that option. She chose to publicly talk about every single aspect of her experience and surgeries on social media. So… yeah… she got some snarky comments in response. Oh well. That’s just how that goes…
@hut-ho78, what is the point of going through this thread and replying to every post you find mean? If you find the post offensive, flag it to the mods and move on. You are intentionally derailing the thread with constant replies to posts you do not like. That is the entire purpose of flagging.
@erinmeri your turn to apologize to @CurrentlyHorseless. You have been very rude to her and she has been very civil to you. Now she provided the receipts of @FitzE attacking you. @currentlyhorseless called it vicious. It’s another example of just being mean to me, as were your posts to @CurrentlyHorseless.
Oh my, I am so sorry. Vets are human and make mistakes and I get it, but that doesn’t lessen the pain at all. We learned this particular vet knew little about EPM (imagine that) and I had done most of the research about next steps. A paddock mate injured our colt’s hind right hoof bulb playing, requiring significant care. During one of the final vet checks on this hoof and an evaluation of the EPM, the vet was shocked at how well the EPM was becoming under control after several Marquis rounds and Lavamisol (sp?), but decided to help the hoof further, he gave him a large dose of prednisone which was the big mistake. The colt went from almost recovered completely to unable to stand in less than 24 hours. The decision was made to end his fight that morning.
Side note, one thing LK and I have in common is she also had issues with this vet’s treatments! Eventually he left NC under mutual agreement with the practice he was part of. I have no idea if he still practices.
