Agree. I am presuming that their deal was never firmly outlined ( or recorded.) So there was enough uncertainty that MB didn’t really have a firm foundation to proceed from.
And/or he was concerned about “ under the table “ aspects such as not having permits for the construction, him hiring an unlicensed person/ drug addict etc. There’s also the possibility that finances were quite pinched after the divorce.
