Barisone- New Thread

I thought of you guys today when I was in court and one attorney was going on about how much his client has been affected in the 2 years since the incident…which happened in September 2021. Apparently ED is not the only lawyer who sucks at math.

Wait! MB’s mother sexually abused him? I understood the mother was abusive, but not sexually… did I mis understand?

OK. I was assuming that if he was delusional, the delusional state had to start prior to getting the gun out of the safe.

To me, it doesn’t make sense to be fully sane when you get a handgun out of a safe and load it, and when you drive to the residence, then suddenly snap when you actually see LK.

If he was sane until he arrived at the farmhouse, what is a sane reason for being in posession of a loaded handgun?

He had hired security to keep an eye on the place; if all the people who testified about what a mess he was mentally in the days before the shooting really cared about him, they would have gotten him out of there for at the very least, a nice relaxing vacation somewhere for a few days or a week. If they REALLY cared about him, they would have gotten him professional help. That’s what people who care do for someone they see having a complete emotional breakdown. MB was clearly in no shape to handle anything at the time; several people close to him testified under oath to that fact. And yet they just let him stay in the same place/situation and let him go so insane that he shot a person. Who does that??

Perhaps if he had had access to mental health support after the incident he might feel differently . I can’t imagine being in jail for the last 2+ years has helped him, and he may actually be afraid or uncertain of being “out”. The man needs/needed help. But the last 2+ years in jail were NOT his choice. Or maybe he is/has received threats? I don’t know, but being in jail that long without a trial is sickening.

His attorney had tried as did others. He was unresponsive to their efforts.

The jurors are probably debating these very same issues.

I don’t get this. You are being snarky to Rowdy over tenant rights which you have opined on with knowledge ok well admittedly for another state. You of all people know tenants have rights and living in the house over 30 days means they are tenants. The nice loyal lawyer friend of MB said MB tried to scare them out under cross. Is “manipulate” such a different word from “scare”?

Nope! There is no way she wanted to actually own the farm. Do you think she would work that hard? It was nothing but a WIN in her eyes. She would worry about what to do with it later—kind of the Scarlet O’Hara syndrome.

I started wearing a helmet always instead of sometimes when my kid started riding too. Now I wear one on a bicycle too, and wonder why I never even thought of this when I was younger.

I remember that he was eligible for pre-release at two years, about the same time they offered a plea deal. He turned both down I think at the same hearing.

Does anyone know how 48 hours found out about this case so that they wanted to do a segment on it?

People who are also so terrorized that they can’t think straight.

If you think any of those lifelong horse people would have gone off and left the horses unguarded when they were worried about the barn burning down, you don’t know horse people.

It’s also not reasonable because even though he had ‘millions’ on paper, he probably did not have that much positive cash flow. It was probably tied up mostly in horses and property.

They were tenants at 30 days. Squatters takes 10 years per the judge at the first hearing.

The judge initially denied pretrial release because it was feared Barisone was a risk to himself as well as others. Obviously expert(s) feared he might try suicide.

It all depends … if he was my friend, I may have gone to the farmhouse and dragged her off the loveseat by her hair, barred the doors after laundryman came running out screaming, and told them to get the hell out. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Thanks I’m way behind - which day of the trial was this covered in?

He didn’t have a lease at all.
