Not pointless at all. If those devices were in places that were clearly not ‘our apartment and my rented locker’ then they are more concrete proof of illegal recording. She swears she never recorded in the office, for example. If the police or anyone later checked and found a recording device in the office, that assertion goes down the drain, does it not?

There are very compelling reasons to remove the physical devices even though they don’t themselves contain recorded material, the most obvious being that you do not want to admit to having put them certain places. Pretty obvious and straightforward.

NB: not saying that this happened, just addressing your assertion of removal being pointless, as one does in a true-crime chat.

I see what you mean but I’m not talking about the audio recorders. I’m talking about the Blink security camera at the house, which was photographed by the police. All of the courtroom discussion about the legality of recording devices has been focused on the audio recorders, not the video cameras, so I assume Bilinkas agrees the video cameras were legal (unless he just hasn’t gotten to it yet).

It didn’t sound that way to me. LK said in the summer of 2018, she and her boyfriend were on the main floor, JH was on the top floor, and the working students were in the basement. So does that mean MB was also staying in the farmhouse somewhere?

Not that every word she says is gospel, obviously. But that seemed like pretty basic information. I had not realized that she had also stayed in that farmhouse in 2018. I had been thinking maybe that was a new arrangement (and possible added cause of stress) in 2019, but it sounds like that was not the case.

I am amused to consider how LK’s testimony and attitude will be received in the civil trial. Generally, you want your “victim” to come off as being incredibly sympathetic, and in need of, and deserving of, the jury taking care of them against the bad, wrong and evil entity or individual they are claiming harmed them.

Clearly, her lifestyle has not been financially impacted by this incident. And, would you want to award her anything? Really?

The judge acknowledged the recording was not legal.

So frustrating that it seems like the same people are allowed to get away with illegal things time and time again, each time empowering them to think they are above the law.

Omg. I can’t even imagine slogging through this whole process in the criminal trial, regardless of the outcome, and then having to turn around and face the whole thing again in the civil trial.

Uh-huh. I want everyone everywhere to see this woman for what she is. None of us made her what she is. Had Rosanna known, would she have swallowed her lies? If Barisone had known would he have offered to train her horses and allow them to live there?

If there is any “destroying” it was/is by Kanarek’s own actions.

I’m not sure that’s true of all posters. There were some comments up-thread about seizing the camera. Also some people have theorized that RG and JK returned to the house the next day in part to take the camera, which with a cloud-based camera would be pretty pointless.

I think the point of those posts is that the cameras removed were not the house cameras that they admitted to, but the cameras that they have been saying did not exist all along. The cameras that were recording in places that LK claims was gotten by the audio only recording device in her locker.

Yeah, one of the biggest issues in equestrian sports particularly is that too often bad actors aren’t discussed so others can avoid them.
Bad horse sales, boarding barns, trainers, etc…

Then when you share your bad experience with people, everyone nods and says “oh, I know, they…”

I don’t hate her. I don’t know her. But I did think her comments on the witness stand about judges were misleading and off base.

I believe that some posters are wondering if they were coming to remove much more than just the two recording devices she has admitted to. If there were more in areas that are much more problematic legally and they managed to get them out before police found out about them then the police/prosecutors/defense would not know about the extra recordings on the cloud. Plus any other items that police may have missed during their search that they’d definitely prefer not to be found.
