And aren’t hardwired smoke detectors supposed to be put in by a certified electrician? Which RG is not…

Given he gave his email I can only imagine they nagged the Fire guy to death so they could send videos.

You can’t do inspections via email. Highly irregular. Can’t be done.

Fair point.

The whole thing is so messed up. These are such bizarrely vindictive people…

Next witness. EMS worker who responded to the scene on August 7th to treat MB.

Sidebar (again!) after about two minutes of his testimony.

So the people who had, by that point, been officially asked to leave, got evicted then went back in and “remedied” the situation without the landlord being notified so they were allowed to stay.

What a nightmare.

Unfortunately that’s the way it is. I agree very sad indeed

Possibly the videos were taken when they first moved in. To show JK.

In my town they are, with an in person inspection before a CO is given.

Sidebar is in regard to whether the witness can repeat MBs description of the events that led to his injury.

it was apparently allowed, and medic testified that he did not say anything about how he received the injury and the defendant appeared confused.

Asked if anyone else at the scene provided information that led to an understanding of how he received treatment. Another sidebar about that.

I would love to know when those photos were taken. Were they old photos from before - like maybe 2018?

For the right amount $ under the table it most certainly CAN be done.

Frankly, the state of New Jersey is NOTORIOUS for that sort of thing.

Full disclosure, I have a relative who lives there and works in the construction industry… for an Italian owned company…

I kind of want to open a pub next to a courthouse and call it “The Sidebar”

Those things would only have shown that RG was at the barn that morning, not that they were necessarily staying in the house. RG could have driven to the barn from a hotel.

it’s a good thing it’s a weekday and we are not playing the “do a shot every time they have a sidebar” game. I’d need a new liver by the time this trial is over.

I would be frustrated as a juror that the lawyer can’t even ask what the paramedic was told when he showed up. This is standard. I’m guessing the poor guy was told something like “there was a shooting, the shooter was beaten and subdued, has a broken arm and some cuts”

Because that’s what the cops assumed.

Why is that so controversial?
