Hoooo boy. The defense is doing a good job slipping in information about how threatening and NASTY things were at the farm with RG in particular via their questions, even if they keep on getting shut down by the judge and prosecution
I can’t help but be struck by the difference between what witnesses are describing MB’s state of mind as being prior to the shooting, and LK making threats and lying and texting “finish the bastard” in the days leading up to it. It’s pretty clear who the instigator behind the dispute was.
The judge is doing all he can so RG or LK don’t look bad. All these questions go to to show what the atmosphere at that barn was like and contributing to MB’s state of mind.
I could be totally wrong here, but I almost had the thought he was laughing at how the defense managed to sneak in the comment about her being afraid of Rosie so quickly before he could object. I could be giving him too much credit though
I think the reason is what was stated earlier by the judge, the character of the victim isn’t the subject of this trial. Any talk that seems to be leading to paint the picture of the victims character is not being allowed in, for the most part.
You have to put your personal feelings aside and look at it from the legal standpoint.
I wondered about the handguns in the safe were rendered inoperable by MHG and RG to try to keep MB from committing suicide. MHG testified she was afraid of that.
When they went over RC’s credentials, I was even more confused as to why she would give him her’s.
And I would too, if those two were stalking around and my storage location was just inside the backseat door of my truck. I would absolutely choose THE SAFE.
For those that are confused about some of this, try to think about a rape trial. Even if a woman talked all over social media about her sex life, dressed like a porn star, and carried a dildo around in her purse… you don’t get to talk about this in court as part of your defense on why your client didn’t stop when she said no.
It’s frustrating in the current context for those that want to show MB’s stress level, but at the end of the day, that still doesn’t mean you can shoot someone.
I think the defense is SUPER smart to use the affable and soft spoken co-counsel to do some of the questioning today. It highlights that the prosecution is not just objecting to Bilinkas, and his style and tactics, they are objecting to anything and everything that could shed more light on what sort of people their 2 star witnesses are…
Call me crazy, but I think the prosecution is quite concerned about jury nullification.
Indeed, but at this point facts are being withheld by the judge and prosecution. If this young woman was afraid and expressed her fear of one of the key players and their dog, and the police simply walked away, that’s a real problem and should be allowed in. It further proves the level of fear these people put everyone at that barn through!!!
