Barisone Verdict Is In: Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

Is she anywhere near where MB will go when he gets out?? I HOPE NOT!!

Oh wow. Thanks for sharing the Twitter comments she made yesterday.

Itā€™s clear that the clan Kanarek reaction is to declare that she ā€œwonā€ because the jury found him NGI. As someone else pointed out earlier, they seem totally uninterested and unconcerned about the verdict relative to RG.

She does seem focused on pushing a narrative that he will remain locked up at Anne Klein for years and years.

Might as well try and share some facts to counter that narrativeā€¦

As I understand it, the decisions on MBs civil commitment and ongoing legal issues:

  1. Will follow recommendations of actual psychiatric health professionals, after they do a thorough evaluation over a sustained period of time.

  2. Following the initial evaluation period of 30 days, there will be a closed hearing involving the same judge (Taylor), and I believe Bilinkas (representing MB). Iā€™m not sure who represents the state in one of these sorts of hearings - maybe someone from the prosecutorā€™s office. The judge will review the initial evaluation, and then decide what the next steps are for MB. There quite possibly could be continued intensive treatment, but perhaps at a different facility.

  3. There are legal frameworks that apply to civil commitments, and any extensions. @OneBellBoot and @Cowgirl both commented earlier on this thread, and an important concept applying to situations like this is ā€œleast restrictive environment.ā€ Bottom line though, civil commitments are not about ā€œpunishingā€ people. They are about intensive mental health treatment. Inpatient psychiatric beds are a scarce resource in the United States. There is ALWAYS pressure to move people along to a less restrictive treatment environment as soon as is safely possible, because inpatient beds are always in need for severely troubled people. If MB is deemed by mental health professionals to be stabilized, and pose a low risk to himself and the surrounding community, he will be moved on to a less restrictive environment. Regardless of LKs insinuations on Twitter.

  4. Itā€™s very likely that LK (and her family) and MB will seek orders of protection against each other. Thatā€™s a good thing. They all need to stay away from one another. Period.

  5. The civil suit is an ongoing thing. Lawyers following these threads can try and comment on that. But itā€™s clear as mud to me as to how that might play out. Except that it will be nasty, and involve lots of legal bills. And not be conducive to anyoneā€™s mental and emotional well being.

  6. It seems LK will be continuing to post ill advised comments all over social media. Hopefully MBs attorneys are tracking this behavior, and adding it to the file for the upcoming civil battle. Sheā€™s entitled to speak her mind at this point, for sure. But, that also means all her comments can be tracked and saved, and factor into the impending civil suit, if applicable. Her continued posting is indeed, REMARKABLE though. It speaks for itself.

So, does anyone know of a service you can use as a pro to look into the criminal history of possible boarders? I do require and check references but thatā€™s not a sure thing.

There were over 70 recordings, I think, according to an early news article. There is definitely a reason for why they were left out. Did you notice the only one talking about a plot to kill her was, well, her and RG? Donā€™t you think a recorded murder plot would have prosecution gold mine?

If we are to believe IM, the great sin is that MHGā€™s 12 year old said heā€™d punch LK in the face for his momma. A totally typical 12 year old reaction to his momā€™s distressā€¦.

The trouble with trying to get LK the help she needs is that she needs to want it. She seems to suffer from some kind of personality disorder which are largely untreatable unless the patient is motivated and WANTS to change and recognizes that they are exhibiting unhealthy habits. Since mom seems to be the biggest enabler around, what impetus is there for LK to change? Itā€™s only a matter of time before she strikes again, but hopefully now people will see it coming from a mile away and avoid all interaction with her. Itā€™s sad, sick, and it sucks for everyone.

Drama is LKā€™s oxygen. She will never stop.

You can see his interview here at about 1:41:16. I tried to make the link so it would go directly to that timestamp in the video, but Iā€™m not sure if it wall work

I mean, she can say what she likes on social media, but no-one believes it anymore. Itā€™s just all lies, puffery and make believe, she admitted as much under oath on the stand. Let her blather on, itā€™s just entertainment at this point.

Oh no, I donā€™t plan too. And youā€™re right, I shouldnā€™t seek these things out either.

For sure, but Ks truly believed heā€™d be found guilty and would spend the rest of his life in prison.

For most people of her meansI wouldnā€™t necessarily consider bad intentions by purchasing a house down there - if they consider themselves a serious competitor it is hard to find a location where youā€™d be better served. Though many trainers leave for the summer months, there are plenty of quality FEI trainers that live there year round. But in her case I consider it done absolutely on purpose.

I would think Daughter Dearestā€™s esteemed father could explain to her that there is a difference between Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and Guilty but Insane. She seems to think the two are one and the same.

And the jury didnā€™t ā€œdecide on a psych ward,ā€ the laws of NJ mandated that he be sent there for evaluation before being released into society. He therefore may be free after the hearing in 30 days.

And Iā€™m guessing the jurors have more than a sneaking suspicion that he isnā€™t the one that should be in a psych wardā€¦ :upside_down_face:

 true true

For them (g) whatā€™s been diagnosed with NPD, it is called ā€œsupplyā€ā€¦as one needs it, as oxygen, to thrive.

She will stop if she messes with the wrong personā€¦sadly. Lets hope for some intervention.

Not a diagnosis. Not a medical professional. Just a general comment.

It seems to me like she and her family are going to try and sue USEF first, or specific individuals at USEF who were communicating with MHG and MB prior to the shooting.

Unreal.

But after seeing THIS post from herā€¦ thatā€™s sure what it looks like.

I imagine USEF and SS will sit on their hands, patiently, for a few more months while this plays out.

SafeSport seems like they could be the first party to act against her though, as they can do so independently of the NGB. Thatā€™s actually the whole point of the way it is designed. Then, all of LKs claims that MB and MHG pulled high level strings with the NGB to get action taken against her become moot.

If anyone is wanting to complain to SS/USEF, be sure to focus on how her lies made it into the prosecutions arguments against MB. It needs to be hammered home that her SM was not just her being a blowhard on SM, she spread these lies about MB/MHG to a state prosecutor to be used as motive in a criminal trial.

I was speaking to a friend who lives down there and she was quite disappointed to find out that is where LK currently boards as she was considering that farm as she need to move from her current location. Her response to me was ā€œF*** - now I need to find someplace else ;(ā€

But Iā€™m certainly going to contact the farm myself - they most definitely have to know what is going on and it is up to them to decide what level of risk they are willing to take on. For all we know they may have a very strict contract with LK and have measures in place to ensure that the harassment that occurred at HH does not happen there.

I hope everyone realizes that getting mental help is not a quick fix. In many cases it is years of regular visits with a psychiatrist. The good ones donā€™t accept insurance and cost 300 plus. One of mbā€™s poor decisions was to work with social worker for years. This applies to mb, lk, or John doe.

I dont get good vibes from the Anne Klein facility base on reviews about rapes, assaults , etc.

Since I follow so many trials, Iā€™ve spent lots of time on state/county websites looking at criminal records. It depends on your state/county, but many criminal reports are online as public records. Also, although Iā€™ve never used them before, many of these websites also have resources for landlords and provide instructions on how to get the information from them.

If you google your state or county with the words criminal records, it should come right up.
