I read that they lost Southern Pride in the fire. What a horrible tragedy.
I hope everyone will open their pocketbooks and donate a few dollars in the GoFundMe. These poor people are going to need all the help they can get rebuilding their lives.

Oh what a tragedy. The water source being six miles from the fire, wow. The perfect storm for total destruction.
Oh, no!
There are lots of apartments above barns or attached to barns in Ontario. I lived in one when I groomed at Gimcrack. I can think of several others as well, friends still living in them, most are A circuit H/J barns. Don’t kid yourself, it could easily happen here too.
Truly heartbreaking and terrifying for everyone involved. A nightmare for sure.
Thank you. Would someone also post the GoFundMe for the person killed in the fire, to benefit their family?
Yes I’d like to know more about the person who tragically perished in this incident.
The last article I read said they hadn’t released the name yet, pending contacting family.
There was a news report that a gentleman had been contacted about his son, who groomed for them and lived there, to see if he had heard from him. He had not. Such an awful, awful tragedy.
I wish I hadn’t read the comment section about the article in the newspaper.
Some people are just horrible and I hope no one affected by the fire reads it.
What comments are you talking about? I didn’t say anything negative.
It was no one from COTH, no one on this thread. It was someone responding in the comments section of the actual newspaper article that was linked above. Apparently a local reader of that newspaper.
Here is a bit of information from the Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic. It has links for donations to the family and to the individual who died, as well as a list of tangible items that the surviving horses are in need of.
To donate directly to Nate’s family as well:

Yes, even a very small donation can make a difference, it all adds up and the link that is provided makes it so simple to do. Took me no more than a minute…
17 out of 19 horses lost, and a barn worker dead? How can they possibly come back from that? Fingers crossed they find a way.
What a horrible tragedy!
They have over 200 horses. Just the show ones and stallions were in the barn.
Even with everything that is going on, I just received a thank you from OEF/Heartland Farms for my donation.
The COTH article said 50 horses live on the property.
Where do the others live ?
They own several big pastures and all the younger ones live out there. They did a lot of breeding!
